I was fairly pleased with SC's OLine play yesterday against one of the better DLines in the country. I mean NC State's DLine is just incredible. They've either got a great DLine coach or they snuck up on everyone recruiting DLinemen three and four years ago. I looked this morning and saw on NFL.com where all four of their DLine starters are projected to go in the first three rounds with Chubb (Nick's cousin from Chubbtown) expected to be a top ten pick, higher than Nick.

But our OLine held up well. No one is going to run the ball against that line. NC State is going to have a good season.

With that said we're going to be able to run the ball against Mizzou I would expect. And we'll play more ball control to keep the ball away from Mizzou's offense if possible.

Defensively ... our defense is not nearly as bad as the stats from yesterday's game might suggest. NC State had over 300 yards in the first half mainly because they are very very experienced, full of Juniors and seniors who started for them last year ... and they ran the HUNH dink and dunk to perfect yesterday - in the first half. They've got an outstanding QB who was getting the best of us until we hurt him, and two outstanding WRs, including their Samuel, who will play on Sundays.

Mizzou will test us the same way with the dink and dunk stuff but I expect Mizzou to try to burn us with the stop and go stuff too ... that worries me a bit. The SC secondary matured a lot during the course of the game yesterday. I think I read where we played five true freshmen in the secondary and at LB yesterday. You could see them getting better and more confident on every series. I told my Son this morning that for them to survive 99 plays on defense yesterday .... might have been the best thing that could have happened to them. By the end of the game several freshmen we're making big time plays.

Our punter did not have a great game but he still averaged 46.5 yards per punt in six tries. He out kicked the coverage once and that cost us a 30 yard return on a 70 yard punt I think they said ... coverage was good other than that. PR was good except one bonehead play by Lammons that shifted momentum but we overcame that thankfully.

We were 5 of 7 KOs in the endzone and KO coverage was outstanding on the other two. KR was better than average it goes without saying. After Deebo took the first one to paydirt they kicked to AJ the rest of the day and he did very well.

We never attempted a FG against NC St ... we will against Mizzou.

I thought our halftime adjustments on D were outstanding.

I thought the play calling by Roper was outstanding ... although we rarely used our TEs ... we will against Mizzou.

So I think we win the special teams battled at Mizzou.

Mizzou is going to score points. Key to SC winning is to keep the ball out of their hands and, when they do have it force turnovers. Get pressure on their QB, he's pretty damn good if you give him time. I do believe our DLine wins the battle in the trenches against Mizzou's OLine.

Offensively SC has got to establish a running game, control the clock, keep the penalties down and don't turn the ball over.

I don't think this game is going to be as high scoring as some others believe it might be. I believe SC wins the time of possession by eight minutes or more and I believe SC wins the turnover battle by a considerable margin. I also believe SC comes away with a half dozen sacks against Mizzou. Boom has got his defense buying-in and gaining confidence. You could see it transpiring during the course of the game yesterday.

I am really excited to see how our defense does against Mizzou's offense. IMHO they are going to surprise some people and put to rest all of this "SC's Defense sucks" nonsense from the first game stats.

That performance yesterday, especially by the young guys, was one of the gutsiest I can remember in a long time.

SC only has 75 scholarship players on their roster right now and 70% of those are freshmen or sophomores. We're very young but man these kids seem to love playing for Boom.

I'm not sure where Mizzou stands on experience comparatively?

If you get 6 sacks against our offensive line, I will be shocked. Could happen, but I seriously doubt it. We gave up 12 sacks all of last year

Agreed, our OL only allowed 14 sacks all of last season. And we are deeper this year.

I don't blame you. It's a stretch I know but I watched your game this morning and I'm taking what I saw from that and mixing it with what SC did yesterday in the second half against a very similar offense with very comparable talent and thinking - 5 sacks yesterday in the second half and ... anyways. I'm not being transitive here, just noting the change in the scheme after halftime adjustments.

With that posted I also think your staff will see the changes made and adjust accordingly and I countered that with our sacks in the second half coming purely from scheme and speed whereas I believe we might pick up some coverage sacks at Mizzou.

We gave up 45 yards through the air on three pass interference penalties where we were in good coverage but, with the exception of King, our young guys didn't play the ball. King is a senior so there was no excuse for him except their WR had him tied up a bit where he couldn't turn around. But I'm hoping T-Rob and Boom work-out those kinks with our secondary before going-up against your very talented group of WRs.

It worries me that your WRs are as tall as they are. They are a good looking group of wideouts.

I felt like 75% of Locks passes were intermediate passes that got taken to the house. USC ain't going to let that happen.

Right. We have two very good pass blocking OTs and we get the ball out quickly most times.

Pass rush usually doesn't effect us. I don't think Saturday will be much different.

We can also run the ball quite well. We're balanced with a lot of weapons, a good OL and QB. We'll score points.

I didn't get to watch much of SC's game yesterday, but looking at the stats the NC St QB had a big day and they had over 500 total yards.

The dominated the stat line actually. TOP, yards, first downs etc. I know SC had a KO return for a TD and won the turnover battle.

That's what I saw this morning when I watched the Mizzou game I DVR'd. Mizzou's offense is so similar to NC State's with the dink and dunk quick hitters. But Mizzou's WRs made the most of them against an outmatched defense.

NC State dinked and dunked but their receivers paid the price. Their two top guys were gimpy after the game yesterday from being stuck on every catch. Their potential All-American, and I mean he is really good - kid named Samuel, he may be out for their game next weekend. I read this morning where he had some serious soft tissue injuries all over his body ... bad bruises. And by the second half their QB was battered as well. I honestly believe beating those guys up in the first half is what won the game for us because they were both game, both showed heart, but they were both gun-shy in the second half. I was really surprised their QB even returned to the game after one play in particular. I thought his leg was broken when I first saw the play.

Mizzou's offense will find much much more violent sledding against this SC defense than they encountered yesterday vs Missouri State.

Still, Mizzou has a high-powered offense. I like their play calling too. I believe some may be overrating their OLine a bit but their OLine is solid, not great.

Our DLine is solid, not great ... but they are definitely not bad.

NC State had this kid, #7, big kid with world class speed, All-American sprinter ... they used him at RB and split him out sometimes. Scary when the ball was in his hands. But man did he take a pounding yesterday.

No kidding, I have gotta give it to Boom ... his defenses are intense. They lay leather. They do not mind mixing it up. They may be a little overly agressive at times. They make whoever has the ball pay. And I was shocked to see the level of gang tackling from them yesterday - every down. I have not seen that out of a Carolina defense in years. Sheeeesh, his secondary may not be the most talented group ... but damn they will come up and deliver blows. They are fearless. And another thing I loved seeing from that defense of SC's yesterday - they really focus on forcing turnovers by design. Every down they are sticking ball carriers while others are in their trying to strip the ball - it's like an art form to them. We caused five fumbles yesterday, recovered two and both were converted to TDs. One was overturned by instant replay and two were lucky bounces for NC State that they were able to recover.

SC 48
MU 31

Giving up 48 pts. may be wishful thinking after what I witnessed yesterday. As far as offensively, the MU WRs won't have the YAC like yesterday but the offense should have some success.

This is a hard one to call.

We know Mizzou has a ton of weapons. We know USC has shown they can gut out a tough win.

Neutral field I'd give the nod to USC. At Missouri...

A week 2 team often looks nothing like a week 1 team.

Should be a really fun game to watch.
