If true, State could have done much much worse.

Howland was an elite coach.

If true, good to see a good investment by another SEC team into a top coach.

another perspective..

quote:

Mississippi State fans now fascinated with Ben Howland, huh?

Fact: Howland has never played, coached, recruited, or lived in the South.

Bottom tier SEC jobs require someone that's familiar with recruiting high schools, JUCOs, and AAU programs in the South.

No they don't.

He'll have instant credibility. And he can hire a recruiter with southern ties.

He coached at UCLA for 10 years. He could walk in a room with a recruit and automatically have more respect and credibility then Kennedy.

@GoodmanESPN: Ben Howland has emerged as the frontrunner and is in discussions to take the Mississippi State job, sources told ESPN.

Well yeah, because your sleezy arse came in the thread. When you mention recruiting, it is usually dealt heavily in the State.

Didn't he take UCLA to multiple final 4's? I don't think his credibility will be an issue.

Mizzou should have took him. Word is he wanted the job. We were scared of the baggage.

Mizzou and Howland would have been a fit.

He could win there.

He won't if he chooses to go to the black hole of Starkville.
