Sidewalk fans are generally annoying and idiotic, but they are a great problem to have: more attention, money, publicity, etc. for the University; and they are a generally an indication of consistent success.

Yep, a lack of sidewalk fans probably means 7-5 seasons.

It comes with the territory. Alabama is one of the, if not the, greatest football program of all time. Of course we have a shite ton of fans that didn't go to UA.

It would help UA's image if they could get an NFL team in Alabama to dilute the white trash sidewalk fan base.

Meh, some of them are embarrassing, but as a collective whole, they make UA one of the richest athletic departments in the country.

Hard to complain.

I bet LSU has a larger sidewalk fanbase than most SEC schools. Tons of LSU fans in Louisiana.

You Gumps will one day realize that you will never come close to the tradition and respect that belongs to Notre Dame.

Step outside of Tuscaloosa and look around.

I remember one year LSU polled the season ticket holders to see how many graduated from or attended LSU. A vast majority did not ever attend LSU. LSU wanted to re-arrange the tickets for the graduates, etc., but because of their survey, they couldn't do it.

Is it not the job of Alabama's continuing education program to reach out to people who never had the chance to get their degree?

It is. These same people might have future athletics and students to attend Bama.
