Personally, I think this game will be close.

I feel Bama fans of all teams should know not to underestimate a respectable D1 program.

Look at the OU game for crying out loud, Bama got punched in the jaw hard. Just my opinion.

I hope Jerry World looks empty as hell on tv. I want it to embarrass Saban and the AD so they know to quit this shite. It's the same crap next year too. Back to Jerry World for USC (what could have been another awesome home and home). Oh and get excited Bama fans, we get to go back to Atlanta for the millionth time for FSU in 2017. Oh wait there's more...get out your credit cards and book the flights early for Louisville in 2018 to visit the pirate ship in Orlando. Seriously? Who in the hell wants to fly to Orlando to watch Bama play Louisville in a shitty NFL stadium?

Neutral site games suck. Been saying it for years. Terrible for the fans.

Some of them make sense, like us playing A&M in Jerry's world. Most of them make 0 sense though.

How much does Saban (or any Head Coach) have a say in any of this? I'm sure Saban will get pretty annoyed at having to travel for the first game every year. Something tells me this is more up to the AD/NFL owners/sponsors than the actual head coaches.

I completely agree with everything you said btw.

Agreed. College football fans, especially Alabama fans, are getting bored with these stale "neutral site" NFL Lite style games. Alabama has been doing this to fans year after year and there are only so many fans willing to fork over a couple thousand to fly their family to Dallas when we just got back from there. What was once cool and unique is boring. Neutral fields are for bowl games. Quit robbing the faithful fans of quality home games. Wisky v. Bama would be an awesome home and home series. I would much rather visit Camp Randall and drink in Madison bars than go to a half empty Jerry World. Keep playing big teams but for the love of god, stop the NFL stadium BS. I like college football more than NFL for a reason.

And I better not hear Saban bitch at the fans about not showing up to a game in Dallas against a team from Wisconsin. Sick of this shite.

Kinda like Buster Douglas vs Tyson. But I don't think you'd want to play us during the regular season, with everything on the line.

How bad arse would an Ohio St/Bama home and home be? The tailgating/campus bar scene would be outrageous. Instead with Bama's current administration/coach the only chance of that matchup would be in the middle of a giant parking lot with NFL logos everywhere.

A lot of it is money, but I think a huge factor is coaches, especially Saban, hate the idea of actually having to go into a hostile environment and beat a team. Saban wants the bare minimum of road games possible. I'm sorry, but if we are actually a dynasty, we should be able to go into Camp Randall or Michigan Stadium and beat a team.

Want proof that Saban is scared of road games? Here you go:
quote:

Michigan State accepted Alabama's request to cancel a home-and-home series in 2016 and 2017 last week because the Crimson Tide's administration had expressed a desire to move one of the games to a neutral site.

A source with knowledge of the contracts involved told MLive that it's possible that had Michigan State not agreed to Alabama's request to cancel the home-and-home football series, the Tide might never have stepped foot in East Lansing -- instead opting to buy out the second game in 2017 after hosting the Spartans in Tuscaloosa in 2016.Former Michigan State and current Alabama coach Nick Saban discussed on his radio show last week how the Tide is more interested in neutral site games moving forward than home-and-home series, as reported by AL.com.

This is all Saban's doing. See my above post about him being scared of playing on the road. His method of winning is to "out-talent" everyone and avoid unpredictable or adverse situations at all costs. Don't play offenses he does not like, don't play on the road, etc.

With the exception of last year, we've been dominate in neutral site games to start the year under Saban so I feel better about these season openers than I do when we play really good teams in bowl games that have no championship on the line (2008 and 2013 Sugar Bowls). Alabama, coming off a heartbreaking loss both years, played two very good teams on hot streaks in Utah and Oklahoma without a championship on the line. Bama is usully deadly in bowl games with championships on the line which is what made Ohio State's performance all the more impressive last year.

As for all these neutral site games, I totally agree with everyone. Madison, Wisconsin was one of the few home and away road trips I've been wanting for years and we blew a golden opportunity to have a great home and home.

They all traveled down for the LSU game in Houston last year. They're now waiting for LSU in Lambeau next year.

Nobody cares about the root beer game.

Damn MSU is hot right now. Would've loved to see us play in East Lansing.

I didn't see where it suggested he was scared. We've been playing neutral site games in areas that are recruited by his staff regularly. I see no problem with doing what needs to be done to get more talent than others. Would it be nice to see some big games on a home and home? Absolutely. I'd prefer we add a home and home, in addition to these opening season games instead of completely doing away with them. They seem to help in recruiting and I'm sure they make a pretty penny for the University as well.

Especially when asking fans of both schools to travel about a thousand miles each.

There's commitment, then there's just wasting money.

I'm ok with these type of games, but good lord, give us some variety. You can only play so many games in Atlanta and Dallas before it gets old. Let's play a neutral site game in Denver, Seattle, Chicago, etc.
