I know we didn't get a conference distribution number this year as quickly as past years. I was reading an article today that might shed some light on this. Most of you probably won't care, but some of you might be interested.

The Texas Tribune has a recent story looking at the most recent (2015/2016) financials for Texas schools. They also provided links to the documents themselves.

A&M's filing

Longhorn filing

The above links have an entry for "Media Rights" that describes the entry as "Input all revenue received for radio, television, internet, digital and ecommerce rights, including the portion of conference distributions related to media rights if applicable." They also have an entry for "Conference distribution" that describes the entry as "Input all revenues received by conference distribution, excluding portions of distribution relating to media rights."

For A&M, the media rights figure was $29 million and the conference distribution was $9 million (both rounded up to nearest half million) for $38 million total.

For the Longhorns, the media rights was $15 million and the conference distribution was $11.5 million (both rounded up to nearest half million) for $26.5 million total.

So, even with a sweet deal from ESPN for the Longhorn Network, they are still getting killed by SEC schools when it comes to TV money.

This is more evidence of just how financially lucrative the SECN has been for us. When the horrible, horrible deal with CBS is over, that number will rise a lot more.

Damn, dude. It's right there in the first link. $194 million total revenue.

I went throughout both documents and A&M's total
revenue page is missing
I can add all the numbers myself but it proves pretty much the narrative that A&M will always be behind UT no matter if UT played in the Southland Conference and A&M in the SEC

Sorry, my man. I'm not interested in arguing with you about the Longhorns. This thread is about the value of the SECN for SEC schools. You might find a Big 12 board to post on.

Actually you used the Longhorns for example but you forgot to include the money for third tier rights from the LHN

If you want to use UT as an example do not lie unless you want to see a courtroom

Nope. The document specifically says "Input all revenue received for radio, television, internet, digital and ecommerce rights, including the portion of conference distributions related to media rights if applicable.

Are you unable to read and understand filing documents I see the difference very quick between A&M and UT.

Yes of course you get more money from the SEC because you have the SEC network. Those third tier rights are more valuable than what A&M is receiving from them.
That money UT makes from third tier rights puts them ahead of every single SEC university

You gave up your rights to form a collective.
Pretty much modern day Marxism

I had almost forgotten how much I hated being in a conference with idiot Longhorn fans. Makes me almost want to kiss a coonass.

Well if UT is dominating the revenue game, they must be total idiots since they haven't won a nattty in over a decade. I'd litigate the a-holes that can't manage a well funded football machine before random people on the internet, but that's just me.

The University of Texas is broke, is covering up a scandal that is 10x worse than the Penn State scandal, and all of their coaches have leprosy.

I suspect that the money from the CBS games won't be as high as people think. TV money for college sports has probably peaked as overall television viewership goes down.
