So what's the price tag here?

Not trolling, just admittedly not informed and curious. Assuming Alleva has Jimbo lined up, what is the total price tag for letting Les go and getting Jimbo in, from a buyout perspective?
Haven't seen this and there are a lot of threads to search, so I'm sorry if this is Germans.

14 million in 2016 to pay Miles & staff buyouts. The other half of Miles will be paid in installments.
5.5 mil to pay Jimbo's buyout.
I guess it's a good thing LSU's AD is one of the wealthiest in the country.

so how much slack does a coach like Jimbo get?
I mean, the cupboard isn't bare at LSU, Hell, he gets a year of LF7 and a talent ladden team.

Thank you.
So, assuming that LSU Athletic Department has similar financials to previous years, they are going to be in the red in order to make this happen.
2013-2014 Financials:
Revenue = $133.7 million
Expenses = $122.9 million
Difference = $10.8 million
Miles buyout = <$14 million>
Jimbo buyout = <$5.5 million>
Assuming 2013-2014 similar numbers are true for this fiscal year you are going to end the year being close to $10 million in the hole.
Also, are you allowed to do that as a department. You passed that Athletic Fund transfer policy which requires a transfer of money from athletics to academics each year.

Word on the street is the boosters are footing the bill for Les, not the Athletic department.

TAF (Boosters) are paying Les' buyout. That's the only reason he is gone this year. To them, this is the most important investment they have had to make in a long time.

For $25mill? None.
That'll be about 3-4 times what UF had to eat to get rid of Muschamp. And McElwain is 10-1 and won the East. So, unless Jumbo Clown can top that by 3-4 times then I'd say LSU would have to be considered the biggest group of idiots to ever walk the earth.

Neither LSU nor TAF will have to come up with the majority of this buyout. Boosters will pony up the pork for most of it. LSU Athletics will be fine.
It is kind of interesting that this will be the second highest buyout ever paid as far as I know. Notre Dame had to pay Charlie Weis 18.9m and is still paying.

Seeing that the AD won't be paying anywhere near that amount, no, they won't be 10 million in the hole.

Thanks.
So, do you expect a contract in principle with Jimbo or whoever the next coach is prior to firing Les? If so, how pissed would you be if FSU countered and Jimbo stayed put?
Also, LSU would have to be offering the most lucrative contract in NCAA history to get Jimbo out of Tallahassee. I think he is at $5 mil a year right now with incentives.

I'm sure Notre Dame is sweating over that decision right now
Dumbass

Where did I say that LSU shouldn't go ahead with the buyout? Notre Dame did the right thing. Try reading before posting.

I'd be livid. Look we agree on one thing. If there is not a sure fire replacement that will improve this team with this kind of talent, it will be a fail of epic proportions. That being said, any other coach in CFB could come in and improve this offense even slightly.

Alleva doesn't have the best track record with contracts and negotiations. No offense meant by saying that, as I have seen LSU fans say the same thing. I would be a little worried if I were y'all.

Well, I will be expecting a gigantic splash hire and if it isnt, it's gonna be flabbergasting.
This is a shite ton of money to pony up to remove and replace a solid coach. Huge gains will be expected and expected quickly.
Lord help LSU otherwise.
This is some brinksmanship that I wouldn't have the stomach for.
