My source tells me all of their SEC titles won in Atlanta will be vacated.

I suspect many people are going to be disappointed. While some stuff does appear a bit shady, you have to think that if the provable charges were as huge as some people think, there would be a lot more serious smoke right now. But nothing of note has really leaked out.

People should probably prepare for something slightly more than a slap on the wrist but not particularly crippling. A couple scholarship losses, maybe an assistant suspended, stuff like that.

They should just ban Ole Miss from playing home games. Make them play for 2 years on the road only.

That would be hilarious.

Make us play our home games in the Liberty Bowl or Jackson Memorial. That's punishment enough.

We don't know any more tonight than we did yesterday. Everyone is still speculating about the actual allegations.

Even if the full letter was front page on ESPN, then guessing the penalties would still be impossible. The NCAA appears to issue those based on the results from either a magic 8-ball or ouija board.

provable charges

Awww,, that's cute.

He thinks the NCAA has to actually prove something.

And people think the NCAA is actually going to grow a pair of nuts and hammer us. It goes both ways.

UNC still hasn't received their penalties

Not 100% true. They did. SACS placed them on probation and is threatening strip UNC of its accreditation. UNC had a year to respond. The NCAA was contacted prior to handing down their ruling.

When the SACS got involved, UNC had no choice but to CLEAN house. Had the NCAA found more after the ruling, UNC would have had a MAJOR issue.

NCAA death penalty
SACS accreditation lost

Ole Miss is in a similar situation in that the ACT fraud brings in a new element, the ole miss committed new violation while being investigated, and this current class......

When the NCAA sends a LOI, Ole Miss will fully comply or they will face the same issues as UNC.

Death penalty will be commuted to chemical castration for Freeze and both Patterson brothers, Red Lobster will be converted to a Sweet Peppers Deli.

My sources have never been wrong.

Plus maybe losing some crooting perks (official visits, contacts, etc)

Maybe a year or two probation

I honestly have no idea because Ole Miss won't release what the allegations are. The media in MS needs to get to work.

Anyone know what law firm they are using for the defense? If it is Lightfoot Franklin in Alabama I can almost guarantee it won't be too bad unless the NCAA suddenly decides to put their foot down and make an example of them (which the NCAA does seem to randomly do depending on who is the chair of the infractions committee at any given time). NCAA issues are as much about timing as they are substance (see Miami getting a slap while USC got crushed).

Don't disagree at all, hence my post about their apparent use of a ouija board to determine the outcomes of cases.

Any prediction either way is just guessing......

I kinda love the crazy answers like.......vacate ATL victories, SEC west championships, three fity, etc lol

An honest answer is recruiting limitations, vacated wins, and minor scholarship losses like 85 down to 84 and a small loss of initial counters.

The bigger penalty is the probation, whatever the term since violations discovered would lead to intense penalties - see USC/Alabama

SACS put Auburn on probation and threatened its accreditation as well and nothing happened. They would never strip accreditation from a major university. Organizations like that exist by not rocking the boat.

In all seriousness, they'll probably vacate the Bama win.

Alabama undefeated season!

Yea the probation means they have to either stop paying recruits or be willing to get hit with HUGE sanctions when they are caught cheating again while under probation. The best case scenario for Ole Miss is one where they feel safe to continue paying for national recruits from states who do not traditionally send their 5 stars to Mississippi.
