IIRC, he actually didn't. Too old. Participated at camps and the like, but was above the age limit for high school play.
As always, though, some of you chucklefricks think you found a 'gotcha' moment, when in reality, his age relative to his class status is due to immigration.

Um yeah I do. In this particular situation immigrated would be correct because he moved here to live permanently.

I wonder what the age rules are in other states? In Mississippi you can't be 19 before September 1 to be eligible for sports.

Emigration is leaving your own country, immigration is when people come into your country.
In this situation, he used the correct term for the sentence he constructed but both can be used.
Calvin Ridley is an immigrant. He emigrated here.
