So Tennessee tried to cheat... and still lost?

I wasn't sure if this had been addressed on the board before. I couldn't find any thread on it:
Tennessee was lined up on the right hash mark on the 1st field goal attempt that was nixed because of McElwain's timeout. On the 2nd attempt, the ball was moved over 4-5 yards because the center lined up there and the refs fell for the "mistake."
So you cheated and still lost.

Still needed to move it left another foot.

Glad you got that off your chest.

I've seen multiple people say that Tennessee cheated here, and I think that's on the refs to make sure the ball is spotted in the right place. Can't blame Tennessee for doing it.

Approves this thread.

God doesn't like cheaters, and he sent that last second gust of wind just before the ball reached the goal post. You can see the ribbon on top of the post suddenly flutter to the right, carrying the ball wide.
Moral is... don't cheat and don't mess with the REC.

Also, if McElwain doesn't call the douche timeout that doesn't work, this doesn't happen.

It's been addressed a few times. Search function sucks. Both UT and UF have for the most part agreed the game was officiated rather poorly.
No need to make them feel worse than they already do at this point.

Until we get the Tennessee grads out of the SEC offices this crap is going to keep happening.

In the end, the timeout saved McElwain, whether he was trying to ice the kicker or not, there were 12 men on the field. He got lucky I think.

Actually a pretty big deal. State would have beaten LSU had this happened.

Would have been hilarious if he had made it and then it got overturned on review because of the spot and he had to kick it a third time, and then missed.

I don't think that's reviewable? The play would have already occurred. He would have had to challenge it before the kick.

I don't don't think UT has enough money to pay the refs to cheat. The refs just sucked on their own.
51 running plays without a hold though.

Still cheating to have your center line up 4 yards inside the hash mark where it was not previously spotted and swindle the reffing crew that doesn't have anyone with an IQ over 80.

If you believe that he was not trying to ice him and didn't back into a good timeout, that's fine. Even the ESPN recap reported that the timeout was called to ice the kicker. There is no way to know for sure, but it certainly looked to me like Florida had already had the players on the field for more than the "3 second" and for long enough that no one noticed it. That being said, I can't say for sure, and I know that McElwain said in the presser that he did it because of the 12 men.
