So Missouri fans, what exactly do you see in Drew Lock?

Early in the year we heard a lot of bitching and moaning about previously ballyhooed QB Maty Mauk. Y'all failed to realize that the shitty performance of your team wasn't Coke Dealer Mauk's fault, but rather the team was just outclassed by SEC competition, even in the weak SEC East (which y'all spent all summer saying wasn't down btw).

Enter Drew Lock. Everyone keeps saying "NFL potential", he has "size and arm" blah blah blah. But let's look at the stats:

129/263, 49% completion pct, 1332 yds, 4 TD, 8 INT, 52 rush, 28 yds, 1 TD

Keep in mind:

among the games he started, only one ranked team (Mississippi St) was on the schedule
One SEC win, an East team at that
0-2 vs SEC West
Lock's high yardage was 244 yds vs BYU
In the conference, his high production was 151 yds vs Florida.
Season completed under the best coach in Missouri history.

For comparison, let's look at Brandon Allen's first full season, the dreaded 2012 Arkansas Razorbacks.

128/258, 49% completion pct, 1552 yds, 13 TD, 10 INT, 29 rush, 29 yds, 1 TD

Allen competed against 4 ranked teams, and scored two SEC victories this season vs the formidable SEC West, under the guidance of the worst coach in Arkansas history.

After this performance, Arkansas fans knew that if Brandon Allen didn't make significant improvements, he would be supplanted by his brother, Austin Allen, or other young QBs, because this level of performance was unacceptable at Arkansas. However losing and shitty production seems OK at Missouri, and even is being ballyhooed as an NFL prospect.

So Missouri fans, please take off the black and gold glasses and tell us what exactly do you see in this QB. I know y'all have been through a lot lately and there's nothing wrong with deluding yourself a bit to keep your blood pressure down. But those of us with an eye toward next season would like to know what actual reasoning not including wishful thinking leads you to believe this kid will be any more successful next season.

Thanks, Woo Pig and 28-3,
Porker Face

Dude, we beat Mizzou last year. No one cares when you brag about beating a bad squad.

Pretty sure that's the point of his thread.

If you read the OP you would see it is about next season and beyond

Mizzou fans keep saying Lock is secretly so good but I just don't see it. There weren't even flashes of brilliance this year

We give them false hope because his first start was against our high JV level defense.

We tried to tell them. And LSU fans. And UGA fans. And aTm fans.

Nobody listened.

He threw one of the most bush league interceptions you'll ever see on the first drive vs. Tennessee, for all this talk about "Locktober" I was left thinking this kid couldn't start for Vandy every time I watched him.

You just showed a true freshman QB, that didn't enroll early, got 2nd team reps after spring ball, got first team reps half way through the season did just as good as a sophomore QB that got 1st and 2nd team reps for 2 years.

I don't think you understand football very well.

Lock's ceiling is a helluva lot higher than Allen's.

The info I just posted. Allen grew into a decent QB after 4 years. Lock's talent is greater.

The reason expectations on Lock were so high is because he is so talented and those with respected opinions see his talent level.

Trent Dilfer said he is already an NFL prospect, www.stltoday.com/sports/college/mizzou/trent-dilfer-on-drew-lock-he-s-super-cool/article_2822de21-5512-50d4-be6f-1d4f0c10a9f7.html

In our team scrimmage he was said by reporters who covered the team for 20 years to have had the best performances since a young Chase Daniel: www.kansascity.com/sports/college/sec/university-of-missouri/article31198994.html

Recruiting wise Stoops and Jim Harbaugh put on a full court press with being the lead recruiter to try to flip him. Top 7 QB recruit who was also a 3 star basketball guard demonstrating high athleticism.

He was sacked 3 times a game and hit OVER 11 times a game & still demonstrated the abi,it's to look down the field and avoid happy feet entirely.

So yes, expectations were and remain high now that we have a QB coach who has a great track record of working with QBs.

This is too kind. More accurately the football players are so stupid they got fooled by a group of people that decided the first amendment didn't exist, that lie and claim bands of kkk were roving around and that the national guard was getting spun up, that created hysteria and panic among many with various lies, a giant fat turd that accused a guy of trying to run over him with a car when video shows the giant fat turd running up to the car, and of course a giant fat turd faking a hunger strike and posing for fake pictures with the football team, and lastly a spineless coach that wouldn't stand up in front of his team and confront the truth.

That piece of garbage USJW institution should lose accreditation, and be kicked out of the SEC immediately. It's a pure disgrace.

You're more asshurt about it than I am. And the people on the Mizzou board were tired of me talking about it. I suggest you worry about something else. Maybe something that's important to you personally.
