So is/was Les a good coach now? Is firing him a horrible decision and one that will come back to bite us because it's pretty much a guarantee we're not going to hire anyone better?

This is literally the opposite of what you glorious people have been saying about him from 2005 to about 40 min ago.

I, for one, understand the fans frustrations. I felt the same way about Shula.

You are so dumb for not firing him a year ago. Now you fricked up and will lose all your croots. And you won't get the coach you want because he'll be coaching in the playoffs.

Basically you're fricked

I really like Miles as a person. He's had a hell of a run with ups and downs. Sad to see him go, but I understand. I just like the guy and hope he can bounce back. He made me want LSU to win.

I'd take him in a heartbeat.

I think the way your AD has handled it could certainly bite you in the arse between the end of last season and the start of this one. And it could end poorly if you're putting all of your eggs in the Herman basket. There's a lot of variables there (i.e. potential Big 12 bid, potential Texas opening, etc) that could throw a wrench in that.

A coach plateauing at a school =/= he's a bad coach. See: Mark Richt. It's that fricking retarded logic that makes the Rant want to call y'all on your shite.

it was time to let him go.

Not a fan of firing him midseason.

Most everyone likes him as a person, because he is by almost all accounts a really decent human being. That does not figure in this though. He has been here long enough that it is time to go. No ill will towards the man.

He was an above-average/good, but not great coach. With him, LSU was usually going to do well, but not necessarily be elite. Yall could hire someone better or potentially someone much worse. I think the reason people feel it looks bleak is that, aside from Herman, the market is pretty bare right now and LSU will be competing with possibly all of the following: Texas, Notre Dame, USC, Oregon.

It was time. His record speaks for itself but his inability to develop a QB doomed him.

He was a very good coach. He is not a very good coach anymore. I totally understand LSU fans frustrations and would have wanted him fired last year if I was them.

Miles was the best coach possible for a program on the decline

Doesnt mean he was good, just that it was the best you could do

Look, it was your fans who wanted to remind us year after year how great Miles was.

It was apparent like Richt, he could win 8-10 games a year but he couldn't take advantage of all the talent available to LSU.

I would want him gone as well.

It was not a bad decision. That BCS championship game against Bama was a turning point.

He is a good guy and a fun personality but LSU was underachieving. What maters now is who you hire to replace him. If you land the biggest name out there, it's a good move. If you go out and hire Kiffin or Orgeron becomes the permanent head coach then it was all for not.

He was a lot like Richt. Richt couldn't hardly beat Florida except for the Muschamp's years. LSU couldn't hardly beat Bama.

Odds are LSU will get worse not better because their AD is still a joke.

Honestly. The middle of the season thing was to ensure he couldn't save himself again.
