Should media and polls stop giving SEC teams a pass for playing weak schedules?

I mean our scheds have improved, but we can't use the SEC meat grinder excuse anymore.

I remember when we could point to an undefeated and KNOW that the team would have 2 losses in the SEC. Now I look at the top 3 teams in the SEC, and wonder how many losses they would have in the ACC, B10, or P12.

Guess I am just nostalgic for the SEC in it's prime. It was a badge of honor, even when LSU was bad.

Once again, the argument has to then shift to actually comparing results between the other things, not just "LOL SEC lost some games".

The Pac 12 has been a dumpster fire so far. Stanford beat Kansas State (who stinks). USC lost to Alabama by 50. UCLA lost to Texas A&M. Arizona lost to BYU and almost lost to Grambling. Washington State lost to a 1AA team. Oregon State lost to Minnesota. Cal lost to San Diego State.

The B1G has the Wisconsin win and..............Iowa over Iowa State? Minnesota over Oregon State? NW lost to Illinois State and Western Michigan. Rutgers lost by about 100 to Washington. Illinois lost by 20 to North Carolina. Purdue lost by 20 to Cincinnati. Ohio State and Michigan haven't played anyone.

If you had any other team beside your username, you would be banned for being an alter.

It's weird year so far. Lots of teams losing to nobodies. Only difference is SEC is partaking this year.

The west is still really good. The east for the most part is a joke.

The PAC is far worse.

Week 1 was bad for the SEC but the conference went undefeated last week.

The SEC's probably not as good as usual this season but is any other conference better?

Alabama played:
USC (perennial power, was expected to be good this year, might still be)
WKU (finished 12-2 and ranked last year)
Chattanooga (breather opponent)
Tennessee & Kentucky from the East (according to media outlets, the best and worst teams from the East... maybe?)
SEC West

That's not "weak". If the conference blows this year, it certainly isn't Alabama's fault.

Excuse for what, exactly?

Alabama? Hard to say, but if you swapped us out for the top team in any league I imagine the expected record would be the same.

The talent is still there, but the last time we had a "conference" drop off was when we were breaking a huge number of young players at QB. Guess what we're doing this year?

LSU is down and all they ever talk about is how they're coming back and how the entire conference is down

fricking pathetic

Good grief, what is it will l5u fans. You guys are the worst sports bandwagon fans out there.
Let you win a game that is close this year and all we will hear is "we back". Every team, goes thru what you guys are going thru but at least don't go all beta on us with every post.

Come on OP seriously. It's still the top conference just not head and shoulders above. The only thing that will happen is a few less teams end up ranked at years end when conference play happens. There won't be a team like 2013 A&M who stays ranked after losing 3 out of 4 games. Bama is still elite and the top dog and UGA and Florida are still pretty good it's just the polls are finally moving teams around.

Admit hell. It is not that the SEC is so good this year but that the other conferences after a couple of teams are so bad. The SEC wins by default as the premier conference and it still is not close even in a substandard year by the SEC. Period!

The SEC is still the deepest conference and has the best team in the land. I think it's a bit premature for anyone to write them off because they had one bad week.

are they though?

LSU hasn't shown anything that they're better than mediocre
Auburn may very well be terrible again
State lost to South Alabama
Ole Miss could easily start 1-3 and be out of the CFP picture by the end of September
Arkansas had a big win but were very close to gagging that win away, still think they'll lose 4 games
Texas A&M has looked solid so far, we'll see about them

At the end of the day, the West has Alabama and you just have to think that the two freshman QBs are going to struggle at least a couple of games, and that Alabama defense is going to have to pull one out.

Nobody ever actually answers this question when discussing whether the SEC has lost its edge.
