Since 1992, only two teams have won their first national titles

That's an incredible stat. FSU and Florida are the only CFB programs to win their first national title.
You hear about football being a diverse sport, but it really isn't. The elite continue to win the titles. Arizona State, Washington State, Oregon have come close to breaking the mold.
The newest members to the national title club, have won six titles combined since 1992. So wasn't a fluke.

Who ever said CFB is diverse sport? Seriously? I have more confidence in my Rams winning a Super Bowl with Goff in the next 5 years than Mizzou ever winning a national championship in my lifetime.
Recruiting is the biggest factor in why teams win NCs. Top recruits tend to go to schools that've been successful in the past...there's teams who have competed at the highest level like Oregon as of recent who haven't had the best recruiting but still had great success. Guess what, they still lost and nobody cares about who finished 2nd.
It takes recruiting along with an elite coach like Spurrier or Bowden to change the landscape.

Trick I learned from an ex who needed likes on instagram. Draw attention subtly. 1992 invokes interest in the SEC crowd because it's the first year of the SEC title.
Basically. I'm like a girl who puts 500 legging shots on IG weekly(which is why you don't date fitness girls). Trying to get attention

Fair enough. Though are you still a Rams fan after the move?

Bear Bryant in the 70s said the state of Florida was a sleeping giant. Miami, FSU, UF... They had the resources and recruiting base, just needed the right coaches. The Florida schools weren't traditionally great because in the earlier days of cfb Florida was a very rural state. It underwent a dramatic population shift in the middle of the 20th century.
So, you either need an untapped base like Florida or LSU, or you need traditional name recognition like Oklahoma. Oregon will turn out to be a flash in the pan like Colorado in the 90s

Yeah, despite nearly everyone I know switching to the Chiefs...I've been a Rams fan the moment I understood what football even was.
Kroenke is an idiot, but I'm a fan of the Rams and the players, not the owner. I'm not going to stop supporting the players who generate the memories and cash flow because of some "big wig".
I hope the new stadium draws huge crowds but I know it won't. LA football failed once and the idiot wants to try it again with 2 LA teams. He's a failure but I do t support him, I support the organization and players of today and yesterday.

That's hard to do but pretty cool. I have no clue what I would do if Tampa left us. It be hard for me to still support them because they no longer represent my hometown. I cheer for only Tampa teams and my University(UF). So leaving my place would leave a hole in my heart.

The thing is, St. Louis is generally my hometown. I support Mizzou because it's an educational university that's the Flagship of my state. The only reason I supported the Rams is because it's a 30 minute drive and was the closest city that fielded a professional football team.
It's like the classic argument that most college football fans make, we love college football more than the NFL because of the atmosphere, the students, the band, etc. I love Mizzou because it represents my state.
I like the Rams because it's what I grew up watching and they're the closest team around, but I can't just support the organization for 20 years, then the owner makes a moronic decision, then just switch teams.
Hope what I said makes some sense, lol
Edit: Just to derail this thread, Mizzou is gonna win a NC within the next 3 years. Bookmark it.

No I get it. I'd be lost too. I wouldn't have another team to move to because I don't care as much about the NFL. Most likely I would end up a Jacksonville fan because at least they represent my home state, and they suck, so it's not a bandwagon thing or stick with the Bucs. Leaving the area removes my passion for them though. It's not about the logo, it's about the city it represents to me. Where as CFB, it's about the logo.

Man, idk how you're still a fan of the rams. If the saints moved to another city, which they wouldnt and katrina proved that, I would become a frickin texans fan and say frick em. The rams straight up said frick st louis and this shitty city/fanbase, and fled to LA. That has to suck as a rams fan. I would never pull for the rams again if I were in your situation, frick that. I guess it is a little different though, the saints have always and will always be new orleans. It just sucks to be a st louis rams fan and have them flee on you...I just couldn't stomach that kind of disrespect.

I don't know. I still think of the Rams as Los Angeles Rams. To me they never felt like they belonged in St Louis.

At least Colorado has won a title. Oregon can't say that.

You want to know the real reason Florida started winning titles?
Air Conditioning.
Florida started gaining population extremely rapidly with the advent of air conditioning, allowing the climate of the state to be more hospitable.
Florida had 2.7m people in 1950. Georgia had 3.4m, Arkansas had 1.9m.
In 2010, Florida had 18.8m, Georgia had 9.6m and Arkansas had 2.9m.

Arizona State, Washington State, Oregon have come close to breaking the mold.
Plenty of other teams have come dangerously close.
In 1993, West Virginia was #2 or #3 playing #8 Florida in their bowl. Had they won that, they would have likely gotten a share of the NC with Florida State. They were also #2 in the BCS in 2007 going into the final week. They lost to Pittsburgh by four points and let LSU get into the game vs. Ohio State.
In 1998, Kansas State was #2 in the final week and lost to TAMU by three in double OT to get knocked out of the NC game. They were again #2 in 2012. They went on to lose to Oregon 17–35 in their bowl. Oregon was #1 before getting knocked out by Stanford in second-to-last week, so that was essentially what the NC game would have looked like if neither team lost.
Virginia Tech played in the 1999 NC game.
In 2000, Oregon State finished #4 with a single loss by three points to #3 Washington.
Boise State has had a bunch of near misses. In 2006, they ended #5 and as the only undefeated team in all of FBS and FCS. They again ended undefeated and #4 in '09, and were #3 in the second to last week in '10, although they weren't getting in over the undefeated P5 teams either of those years.
In 2007, Missouri was #1 in the final week before losing to Oklahoma in the Big 12 championship game. In 2013, they were #5 facing #3 Auburn in the SEC CG, and the winner of that game would have faced #1 Forida State in the NC game. In 2007, Kansas was also #3 in the final week before losing to #2 Missouri by a TD. They finished 11–1/#7. Then there was West Virginia in '07, as I mentioned earlier. Even South Florida reached #2 at some point mid-season. '07 was a strange year for CFB.
There have probably been a few more after that, but with just a little bit of luck, we could have been looking at a huge number of first-time NC winners.

To be fair, fotball has been around for 100 years. That would make it harder to find recent first time winners.

Ah yes, geographical proximity the litmus test for fanhood in the NFL.

I much prefer folks who pick a team to cheer for because it's the close/home team rather than just picking whoever is good (ie, a plethora of pats/cowboys/etc fans).
