Today at work I spoke with a person who was wearing a Bama shirt. Let it be known that I do not reside in the state of Alabama. I started asking him questions to find out later he neither attended the university nor was he from Alabama

To me this is even worse than a sidewalk fan who supports a university from their state or one they have connections to through family or marriage.

The lifelong Bama fans in Mississippi crack me up. I can understand people on the coast liking LSU but people in central and north Mississippi that pull for Alabama are a joke.

The craziest part is they put the most interest in the team. People that grow up in the state and attend the University don't care as much as some of those people

History comes from either the spoken or written word
So let me tell the story how I want to tell it

If you don't at some point serve in the military are you a sidewalk American?

No because you pay taxes.

Well that doesn't make sense, since you are automatically an American if you are born in America.

You ever see the Science Fiction satire Starship Troopers
In the movie only people who served in the military could be called citizens of the country
Interesting point of view

Lots of people don't pay taxes, except when they buy something. I've paid taxes like that in many other countries and didn't feel like I had dual-citizenship.

Everyone in Israel has to serve so many years in the military (think it's 2 years).

The worst have to be ND fans
Met a few of them throughout my travels
Totally different than someone who has a connection to the university
Bama fans throughout the South not including Alabama are not far behind
Met a lot in my time in Louisiana especially North Louisiana

South Korea is another one
I truthfully think it should be something that this country considers even if it is the State National Guard

I believed him until the part where he said he had a job. I might be rushing to judgment though. Maybe he works in the automotive or medical industry. He could be a crash test dummy or an experimental drug tester.
