My brother in law is an LSU fan because his family is from LA. Instead of going to college he joined the military. I guess he isn't a "real fan"

Those of us not in the military are "sidewalk" fans for USA teams.

Yes I'm a sidewalker. I started out at Samford bc they have a pharmacy school and Alabama doesn't. I'm not a real fan.

I walk on LSU's sidewalks a lot. I must be a sidewalk fan. Streets are too real for my blood.

I would have no problem with sidewalk fans if 95% of them weren't football only fans. They aren't Bama fans, or Florida fans, or Georgia fans, or LSU fans, or Auburn fans...they are fans of those schools' football teams. There is a difference.

Yes... That said, my mom and dad and all my uncles went to Auburn, so it was pretty much a given that I'd grow up an Auburn fan.

No, but I don't care if others are as long as they support all UA teams and don't act like idiots (fwiw, we have plenty of actual alumni/students that don't do either as well)

No, although I have been found on a sidewalk on campus in a state of acute intoxication.

I grew up in Baton Rouge cheering for the tigers my whole life. But then I joined the service so I guess you'll just have to go ahead and delete my account. It's been fun guys.

Can I still cheer for the Saints?

I forgot to add.....

People on here seem to confuse sidewalk and bandwagon. There are no bandwagon fans in Alabama. People live and die with their team, occasionally they'll change for a variety of reasons (one of which I actually believe is a subconscious hatred of their parents). You're either an Alabama or Auburn fan, or you don't really care either way. There aren't more Alabama fans today than there were 8 years ago within the state of Alabama. They might be more vocal, but they likely have always cheered for Alabama.

I'm LSU alum. My dad is sidewalk, as he moved down here with the petrochemical plants (polyelthylene actually) in the 70's; but then Clarkson doesn't have a football team. Mean hockey club, though, I hear.

regarding sidewalk status, there are different levels of it. LSU, like Bama, doesn't offer pharmacy, so

crimsonblazer... Samford bc they have a pharmacy school and Alabama doesn't. I'm not a real fan.

crimsonblazer gets a pass. He most likely would have met admission standards, but pursued a degree not offered.

I'd say folks like my pop also get a pass- if you move somewhere as an adult and choose to follow the local team, that's just being normal. He also put 4 kids through LSU.

The "sidewalkers" that make the label bad, though, are the folks that are local, but could never get in. Like those in/around south La that went to BRCC and SLU, but are billy-badass LSU fans every weekend.

How about a poll about douches that label people.

Are you a douche or not?
