I'm not going to pretend to have some inside information but I have felt sorry for him ever since how they handled the Murray deal. Felt like he got so screwed over with all that.

Murray never sees the field if Allen doesn't play so horribly against Arizona State that Murray needs to come in and soften up the defense. 6 of Kyle Allen's interceptions thrown at A&M were returned for touchdowns.
You will see this play out the first time he throws a pick 6 at UH.

I am not going to claim a whole bunch of knowledge of the situation, but wouldn't it take "dividing" things, and picking the "right side" if you were trying to change things in the locker room from bad to good?

A&M couldn't field a decent Defense with Von Miller in there. This was pre Sumlin.

Sumlin mishandled the QB situation with Allen in epic fashion.
Allen was carping about not getting the love the TX high school QBs did at A&M back in 2014, though. Seems like he was a bit of a divisive character.
