AU for him.

quote:

STARKVILLE — A big story on Auburn quarterback Cam Newton will be in the Nov. 1 issue of Sports Illustrated and in it we discover the Newton family’s explanation as to why the future Heisman contender did not choose Mississippi State.

Here’s more from Lars Anderson‘s article:

Last December the choice of which college to attend came down to two schools—Auburn and Mississippi State. Newton preferred Starkville because of his close relationship with Bulldogs coach Dan Mullen, who had been Newton’s offensive coordinator at Florida. But Cecil thought his son should choose Auburn, which had an experienced offensive line (four starters were returning) and was only a two-hour drive from Atlanta. Newton let his father make the final decision, and a few days before Christmas, while sitting at the dinner table in his brother’s house in Jacksonville, Cecil Sr. uttered two words that would radically alter the college football landscape: “It’s Auburn.”

As we all know by now, Newton was on campus for State’s win over Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl last season. The relationship between the quarterback, a former Florida quarterback, was strong with coach Dan Mullen. A picture of Newton with a cowbell raised above his head gave Bulldog fans hope.

More than one year later, he may be in a suit with an orange tie this December in New York City.

Cecil Newton = DIAFF

I think it worked out for the best, you get Dak Prescott who someone on the Recruiting board is comparing to Cam Newton.

Auburn has the better overall football program. It has paid off well for Newton and he seems to enjoy it!

Cam is a rented mule at AU. He'd be part of a team at MSU.

I agree. Auburn has been to Atlanta twice while Mississippi State has only been once. Auburn is the better program.

Among what Cecil Newton had to say about State: “I didn’t think that was the right place for Cam. They just don’t have all the moving parts. Cam was going to have to be the star. He’d have to do everything himself. I didn’t want him to be a rented mule.”

Bishop Newton knew God was on Auburn's side.....easy decision (I hope that's not a NCAA violation)
