I take the point of the OP but I disagree. I'm a romantic about it all; the curent set-up rewards how you played in previous games as well. Just like with football, you don't get to be good for only one night (unless you're Bama). You have to earn it through and through.

As it happens, both LSU and UF are coming in to this game hobbled, so it's a pretty good match. Not like one team is well-rested and the other is gassed.
