Firing their best coach in history to get over the Bama bump.

Hiring Steele last year based on recruiting and "saban hired him so he must be pretty good"

Kirby gives you the best chance at matching Bama does he not? Taking saban's top assistant would accomplish what you want and weaken Bama.

Why is he not the favorite?

He is not fired yet. Also, the problem is not the defense, its the offense. They want an offensive minded coach.

Since Steele is terrible, must mean Kirby is too good for us

No

Don't know enough about him to replace a miles for. AD would be gone if he didn't pan out. There would be mayhem and debauchery everywhere.

I like him a lot, but most think we need to go HC to make this worthwhile

I just think we need to win.

Muschamp sucking so bad hurt Smart's stock, which isn't fair, but it is what it is.

Are any LSU fans worried about breaking up the staff? Seems like anyone you get will be a recruiting downgrade to Steele, orgeron, Wilson, and Raymond.

Would the AD consider a move that could keep the staff together, like giving Steele a shot at HC or someone who's got ties and would keep them like Kiffin?

I down voted you for being a moron (ie. suggesting we should hire Steele as HC).

You should kick your own arse.

Steele would be underwhelming, sure. But recruiting would be an A+ and his coordinators would be more important as far as coaching goes.

If you're all in on you with an Offensive guy, with HC experience Kiffin has worked with orgeron and Steele before.

I just think jimbo or bust is pretty risky when FSU would match, recruits Florida, and has an easier road.

Kirby would not want to deal with the bickering and crybaby fanbase who leaves games in the 3rd quarter. Not going to happen

The ONLY candidate who would ever be interested in coaching LSU would be a desperate coach that has zero options on his list.

No real/legit coach would want to be head coach of a LSU football team

I love Smart and the Tide but I do not understand why everyone thinks Kirby is a big shot hire right now. Most coaches need to go coach at a smaller school before proving they have what it takes in the big leagues. He could knock it out of the park but I think he needs to prove himself first.

That's no knock on him, just an observation. Being a OC/DC is one thing, being a good HC is in another realm (that swings both ways too).

We will not hire a coach until he has won a NC, is 30% over valued, and has a mega buyout.

I wouldn't but not sure who LSU gets.

I still shake my head at that Steele hiring.

People said Saban hired him back so he must know something...Saban had him doing VERY little hands on football stuff

He was a great recruiter...meh, he did very little of that.

His numbers were misleading at Clemson...CU has a pretty good D this year without him.

He will have talent to work with that he hasn't had...Really? Seriously?

I know the last couple of years he was back at Bama for some odd reason our D had dropped off dramatically. Now, he didnt have much to do with that but just him being back just set me on an uneasy plain.
