The Wildcats led by Paul "Bear" Bryant finished 11-1, won the only outright SEC title in UK history, and upset the #1 defending champ Oklahoma Sooners 13-7 in the Sugar Bowl.

Final polls were taken before bowls, which were exhibitions.

Oklahoma is officially your consensus 1950 national champion, finishing #1 in the major polls. Kentucky finished #7 in both major polls.

Kentucky claims it. Their 2015 media guide:

I would claim it if I were a Kentucky fan.

Vols are claiming 1950 as well. Vols beat UK that year per the usual.

That motherfricker probably rolls over in his grave every time Saban goes in dry.

11-1 and knocking off the number one team... yeah. Own it, work it, own it, work it.

I would chalk that up for Kentucky.

Fun fact:

Bear Bryant was just starting out as a head coach. I'd love to see Neyland face off against Bryant in his prime.

1975 Bryant > 1950 Bryant.

No, you really wouldn't. It would taint tBear's image.

No shame in being 2nd to tGOAT.

I really don't know why we haven't claimed our 1960 national championship.
