I'm currently working on a analytical research essay that is worth just about the whole grade in the course. My research will include scholarly articles, books, and studies providing different perspectives on the matter. Would like to get some input on the side of fans in the SEC to gain a view on their input. Keep in mind this applies to all collegiate athletes. I will post my final research when completed in the future. Thank you.

IMO, no.

A full scholarship to a university is plenty.

But I think being allowed to use your own name to make money should be allowed. The NCAA should not have full reign on a kid's name.

They should get full cost of attendance covered, which they may or may not already get (I can't remember). But no more

I don't have a side yet. Like I said, it's a analytical research essay. I won't take a side until full examination of respective perspectives.

I was just asking, are you referring to above and beyond that, or that included?

While I think they should, I'll say no. It would be way too easy to abuse that power and give more money to players than whatever the amount is set at.

Give Collin a shout. Kain Colter and the rest of the NW 'cats are the ones who are spearheading this issue.

I agree with this, from a legal standpoint

They currently do not receive a fixed regular sum paid by salary.

I've never seen a college athlete that wasn't clothed, well fed, or getting educated so whatever they are getting now is plenty.

I sort of agree with this but just fear way too many loopholes. What keeps kids from being promised outrageous deals if they commit to a certain school?

I think the players should be paid, but I think it needs to be even across the board from every D1 school. I hate the idea of boosters becoming the schools best recruiters.

No way.

I could go on forever about this subject.

To keep it short I'll throw in one of my favorite quotes from Colin Cowherd:

“These college athletes are being extorted? Well please, extort my kids to Stanford.”

Free education at top tier universities, free food, free housing. If these kids had to spend a day in the life of an average college kid who is up to his/her neck in debt and will be for a while, they would see how lucky they are.

The truth is many college ball players come from a poor background and have no money, maybe only a mother who is on welfare and food stamps. No father in the house. We do need to give them an allowance of maybe $25/$30 a week for movies, burgers, or pizza on a date or with a group of friends. One from my home town had a banquet in B.R. and had no suit or tie. I bought it for him. He later made the pros and can buy and sell me now,but a few years ago he had no money, father didn't work, mother was a fry cook at a grill.

Yes, they should get paid.

But no athletic scholarships (still eligible for academic ones). And they still have to pay tuition just like every other mofo.

No, it would ruin the game.

Plus, it just isnt feasible. Every public school would have to pay all the athletes in every sport. There are a handful of schools that could do that and not have it put a huge dent in their finances.
