A&M appears to be this years trendy pick to push through the tournament. Even Obama has them making it to the Final 4 (#thanksObama)

My response would be that Smart will coach circles around Kennedy. Both coaches will want to gain a signature win over an in-state rival. Aggie will go full Aggie and panic when they see Texas on the jersey

A&M and Texas are two bitter ex's who pretend the other doesn't exist yet can't stop themselves from incessantly stalking the other on facebook. Should be a good game

Except that A&M has already beaten Texas this year - back when they had a starter who is now injured and we had a starter who was injured but is now healthy. So...

Dude that was the beginning of the season. They had a new coach, still getting used to that.

LSU beat Kentucky in the first matchup, how'd that work out the second time around?

Shaka Smart made his money in the NCAA Tourney. Kennedy won't be able to compete

That may well be true, but he isn't better than Billy Kennedy + Rick Stansbury

If I were A&M, I'd leave Rick at home based on his prior success in the tournament.

Texas might not even get past UNI and they certainly won't beat A&M. Just stop already.

I have UNI in the sweet 16 personally. Hoping for UT vs Aggie so I can see the melt when Aggie loses.

I don't know anyone who would debate that Kennedy is better. No shot to A&M or anything, but Shaka has made it to the tournament now the last 6 years, including a final four run in 2010-11.

This is his first year as HC at Texas and he's already made an impact- which was expected.

This is likely Kennedy's best year and he has a very experienced team.

No one is arguing Kennedy is better. Just that he has a very stacked team this year, that's already beaten UTw once, without one of its best players, which is all true.

Except for the fact he's already beat Texas this season.

Fail.

Shaka is clearly a better coach, but this is his first year at UT and Kennedy has a better team at TAMU this year.

Shaka will have UT in the top 15/20 every year once he gets going there.

Shaka Smart is a better coach, I agree 100%. But the players still have to play and Texas' roster isn't as good.

That said I hope it doesn't come down to a last second offensive possession. Kennedy can coach defense, but his offensive play calling is mediocre.

I really hope the game happens, no matter the outcome its going to be a lot of fun.

Yep, I say more like a top 10 every year. Smart is an excellent coach.

Smart will gave the same problems that all Texas coaches face, boosters that think they know how to run an athletic department.

But that isn't what the thread is actually about. If you read the OP it is clear that we will lose because they are Texas and we are A&M. There were no coaching Xs and Os discussed.

Some LSU fans have this really weird mental issue that makes them jealous of Texas's superiority complex over A&M. This year's basketball blowout just made that issue flair up again.

OP isn't arguing that long-term Texas will be better, they are arguing Texas will win this year so they can ride that dick. They hope for this because they know that course of events will upset us, which is something the craptastic LSU team failed to do.

And the really sad part is they don't realize how pathetic they are.
