It's not a situation. Just politics.

That's a interesting take, but IMO it's a political problem. Bobby doesn't know how to project or balance a budget and the legislature won't get rid of tops or give LSU the power to set its tuition at market value. If the state wants to privatize higher ed and stop funding it, then do it all the way. Nobody wins in the current system.

To be totally objective about it, it's all just politics. We're talking about a very, very small fraction of LSU's total budget being at stake here. Jindal's trying to cut it because he just kinda sucks at his job, and in response LSU is pretending they'll have to close their doors if this happens. The cut likely won't happen at all as Jindal continues to take the PR hit, but if it does happen there wouldn't be any real affect on LSU. I wouldn't get too excited about it.

I don't pretend to understand Louisiana politics but can't y'all just hold a big crawfish boil and sell em for like $8 a pound to make up the difference?

Geeeeeze people really think they know something. Even if we do get this budget cut LSU will still be 1 out of the 5 schools that operate in the black. When did all this poor nonsense start? Like 3 or 4 years ago we accumulated the highest revenue in that calendar year.
I'm not directly talking to you ag4life.

I wish. The money in question here is all taxpayer dollars tied up in the state, and it's just politics over who gets to have it. Keep in mind it's not like LSU is some dump, it's one of the nicest campus' - and adjoining athletic facilities - in the country. If LSU doesn't get the money, they'll do without it just fine. I think people get outside of their values when considering this issue, because it's LSU football and not some random state program. At the end of the day though, LSU is just some government funded institution that wants more of the taxpayers money in this situation.

Did aggy athletics ever pay back the school the money loaned to them when their program went broke a couple years back?

Did LSU ever get paid the money owed to them by Chavis?
