Serious question about Steele

I was re-watching the Alabama-LSU game last night and noticed for the first time a shot of Steele in the pressbox. Isn't it unusual for a DC to be in the box? I know that OCs often are...Kiffin has been an exception. But Smart, Muschamp, and other DCs it seems usually are on the sidelines. When you watch Smart on the sidelines, he's pretty active, communicating with players on the field right up to the snap. I'm not suggesting that this is the root of LSU's defensive issues, but I'm wondering if this hinders Steele's ability to make quick adjustments.

No

No. not at all.
The bigger question is what Steele is doing on any staff anywhere that has game decisions involved.

Chief Chavis sat in the box.

No. It's very common in the big 12, mainly becasue they run a lot of wide open spread offensive attacks so it's easier to read them in the press box.

Yeah, now that you mention it, I remember seeing 3&C in the box all the time.

You can't have an LSU or Steele thread without a worthless contribution from ObsessedTexAg_7

Chavis was in the box also. Never liked it. Seems like you lose the flow of the game so far away.

Steele is a wreck. I know at Clemson he wouldn't eat the day of the game. Rumors were that he fainted one or two times and actually needed an IV. I went on LSU's board when they hired him and gave a fair warning, but I was banned. There was too much excitement over hiring an Alabama employee.
He was absolutely awful at Clemson and Baylor, the guy has fallen forward so many times.

Steele is trying to convert lsu from a press coverage defense to a zone defense and the kids are not getting it.

Coordinators in the last 6 years have always been in the booth.
How would seeing the whole field from above hinder adjustment making?

He was an upgrade, didn't you hear?

Steele is the worst DC in college football.
I couldn't believe LSU hired him. I actually laughed out loud when I heard.
Having Steele as a DC is like dating a hooker and not knowing she's a hooker until your dick falls off.
LSU is without their manhood at the moment. Saturday night will be ugly.

2 Biggest things that I immediately noticed. 1) Beckwith, who should be our rock solid middle linebacker, seems lost an awful lot in this new scheme, (and the DBs are lost a lot too) and 2) the tackling is a lot worse. Maybe they spending so much time trying to get the assignments right that they are overlooking fundamentals.

Steele doesn't know how to teach fundamentals.
I'm telling you - the cancer that is Kevin Steele will linger at your program for a year or more after he is gone.

Actually I was banned from some tiger droppings site, posting about Steele. You guys were excited about him as a recruiter and said if bama saw good in him, he must be.
