I think we have waiting long enough that hopefully actual conversation can be had about the Les Miles situation. The key question I have that hasn't been answered sufficiently by any LSU fan so far is:

Why were so many LSU fans so confident in Joe making the right hire?

Now many LSU fans are mad at him for either not firing Les or just how the entire situation was handled, but it is obvious even before the season starts that Joe had a track record of screwing up these situations. So why were LSU fans jonesing for Joe to fire Les when the same Joe would have to hire his replacement? If Joe couldn't pull in Jimbo (which was ALWAYS a moonshot) then it could have turned into a disaster. There was no obvious Smart hire waiting on the shelf for LSU.

Thank you in advance for serious responses.

Every single one who wanted Les fired.

Obviously the Les supporters don't count.

i don't think anyone had much faith in joe...most people were just happy he had the balls to can miles.

most thought the boosters/taf would handle the hiring.

He did end up making the correct decision. LSU would have been stupid to fire Les.

But implicit in firing Les is the eventuality that Joe would have to hire a replacement. Hence supporting the firing of Les was a defacto vote of confidence in Joe.

Unless you are telling me most LSU fans who wanted Les gone didn't think that far ahead, which seems implausible but possible.

That also seems like implausible logic as ADs are the ones who hire coaches. But even if that is the case, what has the taf done to give LSU fans confidence they could replace Les with someone better?

Actually before you answer, let me thank you for the serious conversation.

There should be an additional issue with the university president and a certain individual on the Board of Supervisors.

So why are so many people angry at Joe right now if he got overruled? That seems unfair to Joe.

i was impressed they had been communicating with jimbo through back channels and thought maybe they were serious about getting this done. i incorrectly assumed since they had pooled all the buyout money they had their ducks in a row.

Do you really not understand the LSU mindset?

Just because you want a man to fire a coach doesn't mean you want that man to hire the next coach. That would actually take forethought. Do you really believe there is any significant portion of the LSU fan base capable of such advanced thinking?

lol at you.

It would have helped if he stated his policy last Monday at the presser instead of saying "no comment".

I get that. But he isn't the slam dunk Smart is. Herman hasn't even been on the job a year, right now he is just Sumlin 2.0.

Meanwhile Smart was a UGA grad who was part of some of the best teams the last five years. LSU simply didn't have a backup plan to match the one UGA had.

TAF is full of power brokers. This thing was done until King killed it to avoid the media coverage about LSU spending 15 million on a buyout where as the academic side is hurting which is bullshite because the buyout would of been paid with private money.

Joe fricked up in leaking this whole thing weeks ago. In his mind he thought it was the right call but was actually a massive fail.

So now the brand is flung through the mud and we are still stuck with good ole likeable Les :/.
