Tennessee fans are full of shite when they say they never liked the Dooley hire, that they wantd him gone long before 2012. Spare me those lies.
Just watch this video of Florida vs. Tennessee in 2012: LINK
Tennessee fans were 100% fired up for this game. They were ranked, GameDay was in town, they beat NC State to start the year. Tyler Bray was a Heisman Candidate and according to Brad Nessler, Tennessee was back. If they really hated Dooley and wanted him gone they would not have been all hyped up for this game vs. Florida.
And Tennessee even led this game at halftime. If they really hated Dooley, they would not have been so fired up in the stands when they scored to go up 14-7 in that game.
Tennessee fans thought Dooley was their guy going into this game and he was a great coach, great hire and the team was back. So never believe them when they say they never liked the Dooley hire. bullshite. Just look at the 100k fans in the stands at this game. They all look like very enthusiastic fans who were on board the Dooley train.

This isn't true.
I didn't stop being excited for Bama football when they had the string of Mike hirings.
Also...why are you trolling Vols fans? They know they aren't winning anything this season.

Honestly, in my lifetime nothing was funnier (football related) than when UT beat LSU, but didn't actually in 2010.
It was more laughter out of embarrassment, but I couldn't stop for about an hour after leaving that game.

OP, it was sort of like the Jamie Howard Auburn game. You thought they were turning the corner and fans were all excited. Then the implosion happened:
Jamie Howard

Who can you quote to that effect?
I gave Dooley the benefit of the doubt for a year. After that it was clear that he was totally out of his depth.
It was the AD Hamilton who drew my ire.
Somebody doctored up his wiki:
"On June 7, 2011, Mike Hamilton resigned from his position as the athletic director at the University of Tennessee following months of pressure stemming from numerous issues including sanctions levied against the Tennessee basketball program and numerous head coaching changes in the school's major sports. Hamilton's poor leadership, arrogance, and financial mismanagement are viewed by many as the main reason the Vols football program hit an all-time low during his tenure, from which it has not recovered. Hamilton's duties as an AD were tested when he decided to fire longtime Tennessee football coach Phillip Fulmer. Fulmer was one of Tennessee's winningest head coaches at the time of his dismissal and although many called for his firing after two losing seasons in four years there were also many in his support. Hamilton chose Lane Kiffin as Tennessee's next head coach in December 2008. Many did not believe Kiffin to be the best hire as there were other highly rated potential candidates at the time not to mention Kiffin's controversial history with past coaching jobs.
Hamilton's decision would be disastrous as after only one season at Tennessee Kiffin resigned to take the same job at the University of Southern California. Due to a poorly written contract, Kiffin only owed Tennessee $800,000 upon leaving. [5] Hamilton controversially hired Derek Dooley following Kiffin's departure, despite his losing record at Louisiana Tech."

I love to give 10rc fans shite as much as anyone, but they were pretty meh when he was hired. Kiffin was the one they should catch hell about. They were schlobbing his knob like hippies at a Bernie rally.

Yep, me included. We shook hands with the devil, and we all fell for it.

Although I can even give you a little break with him because Spurrier antagonized you for years and y'all just wanted someone who would fight back. IMO still doesn't excuse it, but explains it.

Yeah, we were at the Georgia game with crappy end zone seats. He came down and talked to some of the UT players maybe 30-40 feet away. I was pretty happy. Then Coach Pearl and some BB players came and sat down about 3 rows to our left front.
ETA: I will add that when I heard they were hiring Hamilton in 2003 I didn't feel good about it. He didn't have any kind of executive experience. He'd always been assistant this and chief of staff that. He was good at raising funds. He didn't have a clue how to be an AD.

I think LSU is in line for that since Ed Unintelligible is your coach.
