First was 1969 every player wore the same 100 on their helmet.

Perkins brought the white helmets back. He wore them as a player at Alabama in the 1960s.

Holy shite at the people having to go back to the Carter Administration to say that "Auburn does it too!"

As an aside, now that UGA and UF have petitioned and won the right to wear their home jerseys due to rule changes, it's time for UT-BAMA to do the same. The time is NOW for several reasons, including the fact that your current AD was responsible for our fugly "Protest Jersey" when the rule changed and the fact that our current AD is a former Bammer.
Beyond that they look fantastic and the photos of the old orange and crimson lining up together look great. The colors are easy to distinguish and don't clash. Fans really do need to make a push for this to get our ADs to take action.
TSIO absolutely DESERVES to return to this.

It doesn't make sense unless it's a neutral site.

1st, Perkins teams as a player never wore white helmets
2nd, they wore them a few games in 83 and 84 and were summarily dropped to never be seen again by any team at Alabama.

Um, no. Alabama wore white helmets in 1961. But you're right, Perkins was at Alabama until '64.

Between this and tearing down Bear's scaffold at the practice field, I'm quite surprised he wasn't murdered.

Would have been a justifiable homicide, not murder. Those helmets were hideous.

One of the changes I wish Bama would make, or more accurately return to, is the all white, including helmet, for our away uniform.
I am probably in the minority.
ETA: I made this reply before reading all the hate regarding the white helmets.

Beautiful. The two programs that originally put football on the map in the South.

Someone needs to start a petition to bring back the Orange vs Crimson jerseys for TSIO.
