I can't wait until it's eventually announced. We'll get Serraneux and Gcocboi to right on cue say "Ahmahgad LSU didn't win a national title with pistol? lollololol" amongst others to derail what should be a civil thread and fun discussion

Pete Maravich?

Overrated.

Sucked.

Ball hog.

Couldn't hold a candle to today's players.

Showboat.

Floppy hair/floppy socks.

tPOS.

Jaeson had a good set shot, not great going to the goal. Josh was an above-average high school player. Decent shot but could attack the basket and play aggressive D. Josh was far more athletic... He played at LSU a few years, although only saw the court once that I can recall.

Just add a "How did Johnny jones not make the Elite 8 in year three with a whopping 6 SEC ready players?" and we should be good to go

I think CBS did one Final Four weekend last year or year before that was pretty good.

I think the next LSU one will be about Warren Morris with Bertman involved.

No, that is just the beginning.

Someone will criticize Maravich for not making any 3 pointers and say his game was one dimensional as well.

My favorite part is the South Carolina, Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M fans who have the "championship or bust" mentality when it comes to LSU sports.

The height of irony.

The greatest player at handling a basketball (dribbling/passing/shooting) there ever was.

Maravich is college GOAT with even no 3 point line.

44.2 PPG. I repeat 44.2 PPG. In. College. All time leading scorer in D1.

I want to see an SEC storied on him.

When you think Mount Rushmore of SEC basketball he's number one for anyone older than 40. Much more than just a player. Sensational basketball showman, really. Standing room only crowds in the old Cow Palace for 3 years which helped to finance the current Pete Maravich Assembly Center. Wish he could have gotten to play with the Celtics while he still had two good legs.

I would've loved to see what his ppg would've been if the 3 pt shot was around back then.

My idol as a kid when he was with the Jazz in the late 70s.
I love looking at film of him at LSU with his socks and hair and the no-look passes ! He was one-of-a-kind.....

Definitely need one. When I was a kid I saw Pistol Pete and LSU play John Mengelt and Auburn. I believe that Mengelt actually scored more that Maravich in that game, but I believe it was something like 50 points for each. Unbelievable

There were several big time scorers in that time frame:

Pistol Pete LSU
John Mengelt Auburn
Johnny Neumann Ole Miss
Travis Grant Western Ky or ?
Dwight 'Bo' Lamar USL (ULL)
Austin Carr - ND
