SEC Softball Thread of the Day

Earlier this week, FSU softball (38-2-1) expanded its ranking lead (#1) in the NCAA softball coaches poll over Arizona (40-1), Oregon (36-2), Florida (37-2), and ATM (35-3).
Last night, Florida beat FSU. Earlier this season, ATM beat FSU, and FSU remained #1. FSU also tied Michigan a few weeks ago, which lost to Florida, Kentucky, and ATM (0-3 vs SEC) earlier in the year. FSU is 0-2 vs. the SEC this year. They are undefeated against their conference foes and everyone else.
But, that is the problem. Who is everyone else? They are 2-2-1 against ranked opponents. Their conference absolutely stinks. There are no other ACC teams ranked in the top 25. Only North Carolina even received votes and finished 31st.
Meanwhile, Florida is 15-1 vs top 25 opponents and that includes 9 shutouts. Texas A&M is 7-0 vs. ranked opponents including a win over FSU.
Yep, FSU is number 1.
The SEC has only one coach on the Coaches poll. I think some coaches really dislike the SEC.

What he might mean, is it like baseball where as long as tou are in top 8 you are good?

Guessing it's overpopulated with west coast coaches and it's a safe assumption they are no fans of what the SEC has become.

The biggest head scratcher is how does Auburn have a better RPI (2) with 6 losses than Florida (3), who has 2 losses? Florida has played dominant softball against the top 25 too...
Florida State is ranked 6th in RPI and Arizona is #1. Pretty sure the coaches are tired of the SEC.

I would pay infinitely more amount of attention to softball polls if they ranked hottness of the team rather than how good they play softball

Auburn has a better RPI because they played one of the tougher schedules in the country. They are probably not getting enough love although they are clearly not as good as last year. Without dropping a routine pop up against UF they are sitting at #1 in RPI
