Miss St looks to be in trouble. Surprised to see that Auburn only has 4 returning starters on their offense and picked to win the west.

I don't think their #s are very accurate.

Well I would assume that they have been learning them since they have been there.

Oh and OM stacked. State fricked.

I think you just recognized one of the problems with the media's prognostication. They're wrong just about every year when it comes to us.

State will lose to Bama, atleast 1 but more than likely 2 out of mizzou/Arky/auburn, and ole miss this year

And please try that "the hometeam wins the eggbowl" shite. Keep counting on that as your saving grace for a decent season...enjoy raifords after the liberty bowl

That's 8-4.........people are acting like State will be luck to win 5 games. Ohh and UM wont win the eggs bowl, unless Swag Kelly looks better than he did in the spring game. Still think that defense will get UM 7-9 wins Thom just don't bet on your offense for anything.

Most returning starters for LSU since 2005. Les Miles's 1st season. That team won the SEC west.

Auburn technically has four returning starters but it's a little misleading. Braden Smith was starting by the end of the year, and Alex Kozan is back from injury.

We have a returning defensive player of the week, a pre-season all-sec d lineman, and the top rated senior corner returning. None of them are considered returning starters.

Agreed and the Laquon Treadwell hype dies out before midseason when everyone realizes OM has nobody that can throw effectively.

It says our kicker won't return, but that's wrong.

Don't you know State's scrubs were better than their starters last year? Just ask them.

...

Except when they played LSU... Those scrubs were garbage, but they were better than the starters every other game.

It's a bit misleading for UGA as well. If I recall correctly UGA returns 4 OL, a RB, 2 FBs, 2 TEs and 2 WRs with at least some starting experience throughout their careers on O. Think we also return 2 DL, 2 LBs and 3 DBs with at least some starting experience throughout their careers on D.

I'm thinking they are listing Busta Anderson as one of them, and technically he was a starter and has been the #1 TE over Jerell Adams for the past 2-3 seasons. He was injured however a lot last season with freak tricep tears on both arms, which limited him to only 6 starts and 10 games overall, compared to Adams' 5 starts and playing in all 13 gms. Anderson had 22 catches for 260 yds and 1 td, while Adams had 21 for 279 yds and 1 td. We should be OK there...

Other losses were LT Robinson, LG Cann, QB Thompson, RB Davis, and your pick of WRs Roland (4 starts), Byrd (5 starts), or Jones (8 starts). The 1st 4 are IMO all legit losses with questions at their replacements. I have a degree of confidence in the RB corps replacing Davis, and feel that the group of WR depth has higher ceilings of potential than what either Jones or Byrd brought. Roland was a true talent and good enough to be a top receiver in the SEC except whoever screwed his head onto his neck stripped the threads.

The 3 losses on defense are legit: DT Surratt, Spur Golightly, and DB Williams. Surratt was the best cookie out of the cookie-cutter collection of 320-lb NT type DTs we got on the roster, and IMO any of Dukes, Dixon Jr., Griffin, Stallworth, and Lamin should fill the role well.

Williams was moved from FS to CB all last season, and whichever position he didn't play, the youngsters who did got some good starting/playing experience. We're also bringing in a former all-Big12 FS graduate transfer to compete for PT, and the Big12 is known for passing offenses so he should bring solid depth there.

Golightly was a smaller Spur (more like a CB at 5-10, 180), and USC is going to a more traditional 4-3 under hoke this season, but Jordan Diggs almost played half of the time at Spur last season anyways, so again we have experience to plug in there.

Defense IMO should be fine. Still some questions to figure out for the offense....
