"The foul for taking helmet off is a live ball foul treated as a dead-ball foul," Bloom wrote in an e-mail Saturday night. "That is, if it happens on a play where time does not expire then the penalty is enforced on the following play. However since the clock ran out on that play, then there is no next play, so there is no penalty to mark off."

Sweet. I thought Cody looked really handsome without the helmet.

Would've been shocked if they called it, but was curious to hear what the deal was.

I thought so. That came up in an earlier game this year I think, but I can't remember which.
That said, throw the damn flag then explain it. We have enough conspiracy talk going on

Good to know the rules when calling BS.

Even if they could have flagged him on that it would have been all over for those refs if they did. They wouldn't have made it out of Tuscaloosa alive. You just don't make that call. Let the players decide the outcome of the game.

Still, you can't overlook the effort Cody gave on both those plays.

No question. I can overlook Cody, however, when I remember the 47 yard FG that Lincoln left SHORT.

I posted the rule when all the RanTards were whining about it being a personal foul, blah, blah, blah.....but they were just trying to invent something to bitch about.
Not for sure until I download the video of the game, but I believe they missed a foul on TN on the KO.

My questions about this play is simple...
Was the ball blown dead before Cody took his hat off? Because it is a live ball until the whistle is blown.
Secondly, If the ball isnt blown dead the game can not end on a defensive penalty I thought an untimed play shall be played.
