Week 2 is in the books! Here are the results from that past weekend's games.
1. Alabama - Breaking in young players on defense, the Tide looked a little sloppy in a 41-10 win over Fresno State. Jalen Hurts took what the defense gave him and had a fine outing as backup true Freshman Tua Tagovailoa got valuable reps. Another cupcake awakes in the form of Colorado State, then it's off to Nashville to begin SEC play against Vanderbilt.
2. LSU - The tigers have had two warm up games to get the offense work on the new system. So far there have been many positives but three worrying trends thus far: penalties, red zone offense, and the kicking game. The first true test for O and the tigers comes in stark Vegas this week. Should be a great game with LSU's defense back at full strength with key and Lawrence both expected back. We will see what Canada and the offense are worth this week!
3. Georgia - Knowing a true freshman was making his 1st ever start on the "road", the defense stepped up and played absolutely lights out. LBs looked like one of the best units in the nation. If we can clean up some sloppy penalties, and figure out the offensive side of the ball we should be the clear favorites to win the East.
4. Auburn - Kevin Steele, best defensive coordinator in the country, held the fort against Clemson. Too bad the Gus bus ran out of gas in 2015
5. South Carolina - USC was much improved on 3rd down on both sides of the ball and showed an ability to run the ball at will. The offense was efficient and the defense besides one busted play kept everything in front of them. Special teams was a plus again this week as well
6. Mississippi State - Last week was a weird game but in the end we took care of business. I expect the LSU game to be very competitive, and if we can play mistake free football, we'll have a chance to come out on top
7. Tennessee - Vols easily defeated their cupcake. Rushing attack looks good led by John Kelly, with Fils-Aime and Chandler also having some impressive plays. Dormady should remain the starter at QB, and he had a better day than Guarantano. Defense, linebackers are a big worry and the Tennessee defense may have issues containing outside runs. Coming up is Florida. A great deal of players are still suspended for them, and if that remains true this weekend that's certainly a good thing for Tennessee. We will see if Tennessee's defense can lock it down against a bad Florida offense, and if Tennessee is able to move the ball against a Florida defense that seemed competent at times against Michigan. There are a lot of unanswered questions going into this game, that we will have some answers to afterwards.
8. Florida - Surviving a hurricane is more important this week than football. We missed an opportunity to fine tune our offense before facing Tennessee. We also face less practice time this coming up week because of the impact of the hurricane. Now we head into the Tennessee game without any idea of what the offense will look like since there couldn't be adjustments made. It will probably be more of the same what we saw in the Michigan game. In other words, we're getting screwed by the shark this week.
9. Vanderbilt - Futility, thy name is Commodore - right? Not so far this year! Yes, 2 less than impressive teams; but we did what we needed to do & MTSU just beat the 'Cuse!! Now reality; next week's game may be for bowl eligibility. We will have a good idea of what we are really all about after next week.
10. Ole Miss - The first half of football against UT-Martin was the worst football I've seen since against TCU and Jacksonville State. No way we can overcome that type of play against any decent team. Next week we will be tested against a such a decent team in California who surprised me when they traveled to North Carolina and defeated the Tarheels in week one.
11. Arkansas - I expected TCU to put up some points so the 28 wasn't a surprise at all, the D performed well until late in the 4th. The offense is offensive, though. The o-line is porous, Allen can't see the open receiver, and Enos can't make halftime adjustments to save his life. Three words to best sum up the Arkansas game, Bert is fat.
12. Kentucky - Win @ Southern Mississippi was positive. Win @ home against FCS Eastern Kentucky was not. Road trip to South Carolina should provide some needed clarity.
13. Texas A&M - This is Fran level bad. Sumlin will be lucky to make it to mid Oct for his collapse. Can you collapse when you're already at bottom? Hopefully we can beat OoLaLa next week, but that may be our last win until UNM based on the last 6 quarters of play.
14. Missouri - We did not glick on any cylinders against SCAR and could use some muscle against the Boilermakers. There's some off-field issues as you'd expect at a snowflake school. Odom pleads for fans to stick with the team. We'll be here.

Strange see A&M having a high(relative) outlier. Vandy has a huge spread.

We've done what a good team should do against the competition we've faced. The competition just wasn't anything to test us. I think it'll solidify more based on the game this weekend.

Kevin Steele isn't the best defensive coordinator in the SEC no less the whole country.

I don't think people understand what power rankings are
Posted on 9/13/17 at 1:58 pm to LewDawg
Power rankings are pretty subjective. I don't think there is a hard and fast definition. The different viewpoints are what makes rankings valuable and interesting. If everyone thought the same way about every team then there would be no point in having rankings.

I think this is more accurate than the ESPN power ranking...

I honestly can't believe we didn't get every last place vote. Embarrassing performance on Saturday.
Top 5 were pretty easy to figure out based on results thus far, but after that it's still pretty jumbled.
On second thought, Vandy should have been higher. Big opportunity this weekend
