I assume the point of the stat is to account for passes to the receiver and how many are accurate and how many are not. I think an argument could be made some bats are the QBs fault, though, for sure. But they aren't because of bad accuracy, per se.

Because the point of the stat is to take out factors that the QB doesn't have control of (drops, throw aways). It's to determine a QBs accuracy. Throw aways, WR drops, spikes, etc don't have anything to do with a QBs accuracy, so they are stripped away for this specific stat.
