SEC Preview - Missouri "A Muted Roar"

Seems like the media thinks the Yankee tigers will emit only a muted roar this season...in stark contrast to MU/UM fans here on the rant. Am I, as well as professional journalists, missing something, about the carpetbaggers?

Be honest, how many wins did you think we would have the past 2 years? And actually, its funny you mention quarterbacks, because we did just get a quarterback who will, quite possibly be the best in our history. His name is Drew Lock. You might as well learn his name now, because you will be cursing it regularly over the next 5 years.

You mean we may not win the East every single year????
That's some hard hitting journalism right there!

I expected a little more robust discussion about journalism considering how much crowing the Yankee Tigers do about the "J School"

I like how people from Arkansas call us Yankees. Arky doesn't exactly scream Dixi Land. I think most people associate hillbilly land with Arkansas.
Let's take a quick survey:
Me: "Hey Cali guy, what is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the people of Arkansas?"
Cali guy: "Rednecks"
Me: "You don't think of southerners?"
Cali guy: "Nope."

I would take him over Allen, so we are straight

Well, here's a response:
Defense:
Back 7 has the potential to be the best of the CGP era. There's some real good talent there, from Brothers to the corners. If they click with Barry Odom's defense, they have a shot at being the best back 7 in the SEC.
DLine: big question mark. Mizzou's lost 4 starting DE's in the last two drafts - the most publicized of them being the worst of the four. They also lost DT Harold Brantley to a serious car accident. Long term, he'll thankfully be fine, but he's out this season. They also lost some other DT's, who not well known, were dang good players. Lucas Vincent and Matt Hoch being the primary two.
Marcus Loud was dismissed from the team and he was pegged as a starter at DE. That leaves the talented, but young Charles Harris at one DE spot. Harris should be solid, but there's very little proven depth around him.
At DT, you know have Hatley - who'll also play end, John Augusta - massive and talented, but due to his size is only good for perhaps 40-50% of the defensive snaps, and the true freshman Terry Beckner. They really need Beckner to make an impact this season.
There's also been some talk of a more 3-4 style of front that Odom used at Memphis. That could help. There's some other guys that I've not mentioned, but the take home is a lot of unproven guys on the line.
So, to sum up the defense, back 7 could be really special, front four will take a significant step back, so overall, I think the defense will be good, but prone to getting run on without as much pressure on the QB.
Offense:
QB: Mauk is Mauk. He'll keep plays alive, make you scream at the TV, look good awful, but somehow lead the Tigers to a win. He is what he is.
RB: Hansbrough is a 1000 yard rusher. Depth behind is unproven. Mizzou needs at least one of the backups to take over, if not two of them.
Line: Should be solid, no real worries there.
TE/WR's: two top TE's return, and I think they'll get plenty of time to shine because...the WR's are all young or unproven. That could be a train wreck with those kids. Good news is, playing time is there if anyone steps up.
Overall: if the WR's come around and health stays good, I think Mizzou should challenge for a 3rd straight SEC East title. If those don't happen, I'd pencil Mizzou in for 2cd or 3rd, depending on how TN comes along.
High end, 10-2, low end, 7-5, I'd put the over/under at 8.5 wins.
The schedule should help, so I'm saying 9-3.

This is your best argument in my opinion, and why it is disappointing to see Arkansas fans pissing in your Cheerios. Most of our SEC brethren refuse to give an ounce of respect, even when Arkansas beats it out of them, which is why my dislike for LSU and Auburn, primarily, has grown over the years.
Let me be the first to admit, I fully expected Missouri to get slaughtered by the SEC schedule, even with them being pretty much pampered along. They have performed better than expected, but before you pound your chest too hard, consider that Florida has taken a nosedive recently, Georgia continues to shite the bed at the most inopportune time, and South Carolina did the cheap tent trick last year.

Wrong. Porker effortlessly baits Mizzou posters at whim and he's extremely successful at it, which is shameful for Mizzou posters more than it is for Porker.
I don't know...perhaps ignoring his threads/posts would be more productive. Then again that's asking too much from Mizzou posters which fuels the endless cycle.
