SEC Media - Preseason Stupidity

Great story on Missouri's Rivals site.
Gist is that Missouri has had only one preseason SEC 2nd team pick by the SEC media since joining the conference. No first teams, no other second teams.
Yet Missouri finished those seasons with a 2013 Co-Defensive POY, Athlon national 2013 first team DE, Defensive POY, Athlon 2013 SEC 1st team DE, Athlon 2013 SEC second team LB, Athlon 2013 SEC 1st team CB, AP 2013 SEC 1st team Tackle, AP 2013 SEC 1st team DE, AP 2013 SEC 1st team CB, AP 2013 SEC 2nd team WR, AP 2013 SEC 2nd team LB, AP 2013 SEC DPOY, AP 2013 national 1st DE, SI 2014 national 1st team DE of the year, Athlon national 2014 2nd team DE, Athlon 2014 SEC DPOY, Athlon SEC 2nd team WR, Athlon SEC 2nd team OT, Athlon SEC 1st team All Purpose, Two Athlon SEC 1st team Defensive Ends, Athlong 2014 SEC 2nd team Safety, Athlon SEC 1st team Kick Returner, AP 2014 SEC 1st team WR, AP 2014 SEC 1st team All-Purpose player, AP 2014 SEC 1st team DE, AP 2014 SEC 2nd team LB, AP 2014 SEC 2nd team Safety, AP 2014 SEC DPOY, AP 2014 national 1st DE, plus probably some others I'm missing.
That's multiple Defensive Ends, multiple Offensive Linemen, multiple Linebackers, an All-Purpose Player and Kick Returner, a Cornerback, a Wide Reciever, and a Safety. Add a 2014 SEC Coach of the Year, named by the SEC coaches, award as icing on the cake.
So I'm obviously pro-Mizzou trolling a bit, but what's with the lack of love from the SEC media? Is this just the Birmingham bias or the fact that the southern sports media doesn't travel more than a few hundred miles from Atlanta or New Orleans? Seems odd that the back-to-back SEC East champ doesn't get any mention until 3rd team. I get that Missouri is Yankeedom, but they're making the SEC media look uber stupid.

I don't think this is going to work out the way you hope.

So then why do you care about preseason rankings? It's fricking preseason. They're just trying to get ratings

What is this the great wall of china?

The media is banking on the East not being as down as it has been the past the past 5 years forever.

Maybe the West will be down sometime soon and Arkansas can at least have a .500 conference record?

Yeah, probably should have gone the Phat Phil route and just post and leave your opinion out of it. At that point, at least you could claim it was a clever troll....

Not to mention...
Thinking about reading that cluster frick gives me a headache.

Take a breath. I admitted that it would come off as a bit of a troll, but that's not the intention.
Mostly I'm bitching about a myopic media.

Don't read it then. It's just a list of all the post-season awards Missouri shouldn't have gotten.

Mizzou will be a strong contender for the east
No one should question that.

I agree. I'm expecting a down season with several teams in the East in the mix, but still I think the team deserves a little more respect.
Posted on 7/17/15 at 8:46 pm to throwingoranges
But I'm a Mizzou homer......

As I said in the other thread on this topic, only "Big 6" schools receive credit in the off-season, so get used to it. It happens to everyone else and not just Missouri.

I can't wait for the shite-storm that's going to occur on tRant and IRL when an East team wins the SEC this year...
It's happening, folks.

It's also been proven that playing for Missouri causes a man to be ghey.
