This thread, like 99.99% of tRant threads, has morphed into the usual dick-measuring contest that makes tRant great.

Said dick-measuring contests have become "enhanced" between LSU and A&M fans. This is true because we are exactly alike.

Auburn could make money from that ginormous screen in another way. Sell tickets for a raffle to get to play xbox/PS on the big screen at halftime

I was stoked at first when Commonwealth got the new, bigger Jumbotrons in each endzone.

Then I went to the first home game that year and realized that the area that showed replay was the exact same size as the old boards, just with more ad space around it.

Could have saved a ton of money and just erected billboards around the old 'trons.

Hmm... We also have two additional jumbotrons in the other endzone, which obviously aren't included in these rankings. Same with Bama - each screen may be the smallest in the SEC, but they are still a decent size to have four of them (one in each corner)

they are cool IMO but some stadiums need to use that money on making the actual stadium not look like dumps..i dont understand that.

Observations and commentary:

1. In the list of relevant stadium amenities, a jumbotron is way down the list for me. Watch the game itself, not the screen. I could stay home and watch a relative sized bigger screen. And have all the cool beverages I like, cheap snacks, and short restroom lines.

2. 99.546% of the time, more screens = more ads. I have yet to see any stadium that does a great job of providing timely updates on other scores, stats, and game information. Maybe there's a stadium out there who does this more than ads, but I haven't visited this mythological place.

3. I used to be on the sideline shooting games. Ribbon screens and jumbotrons SUCK because of constant white balance changes they force upon you. No photographer or video person likes bigger and more screens.

Just some thoughts.

Man I'm glad we don't riddle our scoreboard with ads. There's one three ad section on the side that scrolls downwards through a bunch of different ones. Not much space st all

This pisses me off about BDS ~ how fricking hard is it for someone to update the damn scores and run them across the ribbon?

shite looks like flashes of lightening in the stadium everytime the color/contrast changes on the ribbon screens.

I like Bama's 4 screens - they are easily viewed from the lower bowl seats.

Another thing to note is that each of those two boards has 3 additional separate boards for ads and the scoreboard, so the main 111x47 boards are used entirely for gameplay.

When State built its first big board, Texas Godzillatron was still #1, but the gameplay portion of their screen was actually smaller than State's because of our separate boards for ads and their using up a third or more of their giant screen for ads.

That screen better be made of fricking war-grade material. Some drunk frat will throw a flaming beer bottle into the middle of the screen within two weeks of the first game and they better be prepared for that.

When is Auburn planning to do a brick facade and get rid of the Erector Set decor?

Seriously, pictures of this new jumbotron support system just adds the already existing steel structure. Brick it up and make it look nice.

Not at halftime, but it would be bad arse to have an xbox/PS4 NCAA football tournament on the field. I bet the school could raise a shite ton of money to host something like that. It'd be a good charity event idea for sure.
