These numbers go back to the year 2008, meaning red shirted players that are playing this year are included in these stats. They go back 5 years from 2008-2012.

The numbers indicate the number of recruits since 2008, parenthesis are the in state players.

1. Texas A&M 81.19% Recruits: 117 (95)

2. Mississippi State 67.69% Recruits: 130 (88)

3. Georgia 63.88% Recruits: 108 (69)

4. Florida 54.2% Recruits: 107 (58)

5. LSU 53.6% Recruits: 125 (67)

6. Alabama 35.55% Recruits: 135 (48)

7. Auburn 34.32% Recruits: 134 (46)

8. Ole Miss 30.28% Recruits: 142 (43)

9. Missouri 29.62% Recruits: 108 (32)

10. South Carolina 29.54% Recruits: 132 (39)

11. Arkansas 25.61% Recruits: 139 (37)

12. Tennessee 19.82% Recruits: 116 (23)

13. Kentucky 18.11% Recruits: 127 (23)

14. Vanderbilt 15.88% Recruits: 107 (17)

Other things to make note of.

Texas- Only 1 SEC school, but has 6 AQ schools in the state.

Louisiana- Only 1 SEC school, has 1 AQ school in the state.

Arkansas- Only 1 SEC school, has 1 AQ school in the state.

Missouri- Only 1 SEC school, has 1 AQ school in the state.

Mississippi- 2 SEC schools, 2 AQ schools in the state.

Tennessee- 2 SEC schools, 2 AQ schools in the state.

Kentucky- Only 1 SEC school, 2 AQ schools in the state.

South Carolina- Only 1 SEC school, 2 AQ schools in the state.

Alabama- 2 SEC schools, 2 AQ schools in the state.

Georgia- Only 1 SEC school, 2 AQ schools in the state.

Florida- Only 1 SEC school, 4 AQ schools in the state.

*other notes: Texas has 2 teams joining AQ conferences next year, Florida has 1 team joining AQ conferences.

No particular reason for doing this, just got to thinking about it and wanted to see the results.

I'm not sure you were spot on with your FBS school counts. Georgia has 1 other FBS school (GT) while LSU has at least three-four others besides LSU(ULM, ULL, Tulane, Louisiana Tech)

Of the numbers, I found Florida to be to biggest surprise, considering the D1 talent in that state. I expected their percentage of in-state recruits to be closer to 70-75%.

Guess that means the Urban Legend was a good national recruiter and Boom is following the same trend.

Me too. A&M doesn't surprise me one bit, our population is so large we have a huge talent pool to draw from within the state, most of our non-Texas recruits are from LA where we usually grab the "best of the rest" after LSU has their fill.

I have always seen Florida HS ball as similar to Texas with a very deep talent pool just based on the size of the state.

So that besides Texas A&M, you're saying that the state of Texas only has one other AQ school (UT)?

Correction: UT (University of Tennessee) is not located in Texas.

There is a school in austin. It's real name is tu (texas university).

Not sure if they are an AQ school.

Interesting but not really surprising. I actually expect A&M's in state number to drop some in the coming years as Sumlin has several guys that are recruiting heavily OOS and they are working the Louisiana/SEC State territory much harder than any previous coaches. A&M will likely never drop below about 70% from Texas though.

The most interesting one to me is the disparity between State at 67% and Ole Miss at barely 30%, that seems odd.

Is the point of this thread to point out that schools in talent rich states get most of their players from their talent rich state? And that MSU can't recruit a lick despite reasonable success so they get all their players from home? If so, great thread. And Germans.

UF has had quite a bit of success going out of state. Guys like Harvin and Hernandez were pretty huge gets.

Right now we have Easley (NY), Evans (NJ), Floyd (PA), Hunter (GA), Jenkins (MD), Morrison (IL) all starting or getting significant time on defense alone.

If you are going to take the time to mention how many schools are in each state then why not mention the population of the state as a comparison or maybe how many top 300 players are in each state.

Mississippi puts kids into the NFL at the second greatest per capita rate in the country and is getting better. Maybe you should look at the other alternative, which is that Mississippi kids are often undervalued, underdeveloped, and underrated. Not unlike our (2) 2 star lock down CBs right now.

State's 09 recruiting class was ranked #19/#25. Literally half that class will play on Sundays. In reality, there were not 10 classes in the country better than that one.
