It's common to see an athlete put up good stats for a single season and suddenly the hype machine is running full tilt. Sometimes they turn out to be true stars, sometimes they fade back into the pack. Who were the SEC stars from 2014 that fall into the latter category?

I'll say Derek Barnett from Tennessee. He's a good defensive end, but not as good as his 10 sacks as a true freshman suggests. Pretty good bullrusher, speed and agility are average and at times he struggles to contain the edge on running plays. He's pretty good, but not as good as his PR right now, IMO.

I'll go with AM'S Garret. He knows how to beat up lower level competition to the QB but he's a huge liability in run defense and most left tackles can plow right through him

Any Auburn runningback in the Gus Malzahn era (2009 - 2011; 2013 - present).

Most any ILB/MLB that ends up having 100+ tackles on the season but a pretty typical number of sacks and TFLs

Jake Coker. He is going to be one of the more undeserving Heisman winners after this year, being the beneficiary of Alabama's defense and running game.

Lol he led tSEC in tackles for a loss (20.5) as a freshman to go along with his 10 sacks. GTFO

I'm predicting the future and contrasting that to past statistics. Derek Barnett had an impressive freshman year and I'm not saying he didn't. But I watched your games and focused on Barnett. He's not as good as the hype IMO.

I've seen people on here saying the same about Nick Chubb. Time will tell.

Myles Garrett. 3 Sacks in SEC play. 7 against Rice, Lamar, and ULM.

Barnett tallied most of his tackles and all of his sacks against SEC competition. Is he an athletic freak like Clowney? No. But he is fast and quick for his size (6'4 270) and understands leverage better than any DE Tennessee has had in a long time.
You are simply off base. Barnett was our best and most consistent player on the entire team.
