I agree, you should have to be in the SEC for 5 years before you reap any of the benefits.
Well played sir. Well played indeed.

Fine with me. We have too much money as it is.

Mizzou and A&M were fully vested from day 1...no bush league partial revenue sharing in years 1-3. And fans from other conferences wonder why the SEC has no "grant of rights" of exit penalties....
The $31.1m includes expenses related to buying back tier 3 rights...next year will be approaching $40m per school.

Not a completely fair comparison because we had to pay our exit fee in our last year in the Big 12, but that year we received $1.81 million. I didn't feel like searching forever to find out what it was the year before that, but a quick search showed that in 2009, Mizzou received $8.4 million from the Big 12.
People should never ask again why Mizzou joined the SEC, besides the fact that the schools are better on the field, the venues are better and the women are better looking.

Welcome to the SEC. If all schools didn't get the same, I promise A&M wouldn't like the outcome. Bama, however, would love it. 8 of Alabama's games were the highest rated game of that week. Ratings = audience. Spots are sold on a cost per point (rating point) basis. Higher ratings = higher ad sales. Higher ad sales = more money for SEC TV deals.
Bama drives TV numbers in 2014

You better hope Loftin is around when KU jumps to the B1G, so some Beaker influence doesn't try and get you to go with them.

I don't like the idea of uneven money, but your understanding of the subject is downright ignorant. Ad sales are a small FRACTION of the TV money coming in, your understanding of college football economics is straight out of the 90's.
You can't even say the ratings drive the revenue in any significant way, as the Tier 1 deal for the SEC (aka the CBS deal) is FAR FAR FAR below market value and that is where all of the SEC's highest rated games are. The SEC takes less money than it could make on its best games for the exposure of being alone on CBS. It makes up that money lost in the SEC Network.
The SEC got over 30 million a year per team by using a modern income model where the revenue is based on the number of subscribers in your footprint. Since Texas A&M represents Texas, and Texas is the most populous state in the SEC, if money WAS distributed unevenly we would be one of the winners.
If you look at conference that still run on the old economic model, namely the Big 12 and ACC, you notice they barely make $20 million a year and that is only because ESPN sweetened their pot to stabilize those leagues. In two years each SEC team will make twice your average ACC team, and that is because of the new economic model.

All joking aside Mizzou's joining the SEC was a very smart move. The money is good, sure, but its the long term stability that is probably the best part of the deal. Who the hell knows what is going to happen to the Big 12 next year, let alone ten years down the road?
Life is better as an AD if you don't have to worry every day as to whether or not your conference is about to go tits up.
I'm not even going to get into the split conference champions whoopsie, Longhorn Network, or all the other reasons the Big 12 is a toxic mess right now.

Dude, y'all need to give up on the B1G thing. It's never going to happen. Was there some flirting back and forth way back when? Sure. Did we even know or believe that the SEC was a possibility at that time? Nope. We're more than happy where we are and for the most part, the only portion of the Mizzou fanbase that gives a shite about kU anymore are the ones that live in KC because they have to deal with it day in and day out.

If your school hasn't one a NC in football, baseball or basketball in the last 10 years... I like it.

Each Big 12 school is getting 25 million, except Texas who gets 40 million for having the LHN as well.
So aTm and Mizzou are making 6 mil more over here than they would have been in the B12.

I'd be fine with each school getting paid based on our respective state's TV households.

And that is with partial SECN revenue...next year, at absolute worst, we will all be at $40M even.
