Don't change it anymore, cause not a lot will agree with me, but I'd barely even consider Georgia a rival. Only reason they are is because we've lost to them a bunch (until recently) and our states border.

Florida and Tennessee, who cares.

Florida and Tennessee matter to me ... UGA, meh. I just hate'em, but they're not a rival imho. Murray, now Murray, he's gay from what I understand.

This isn't meant as a flame, but as an open question. Is UF/SC a rivalry for SC even though UF doesn't consider it one?

I don't consider yall a rival, but I damn sure like it when we beat yall.

I don't know why this gets debated so often here, but the way I see it, we have 2 rivals. Clemson obviously first. UNC second.

quote:

The genesis of this border rivalry exists between the states' two flagship Universities due to their old ACC connection and prior. The rivalry itself dates back to 1903. Their most recent meeting was a 21-15 victory for the Gamecocks, televised on ABC in 2007, which is the only meeting since South Carolina joined the SEC in 1992. The intensity of the rivalry, when it is played, finds its roots in South Carolina's membership and eventual departure from the ACC in 1971, after South Carolina expressed a certain "frustration" when dealing with what is commonly known as the "Tobacco Road" hierarchy of the ACC.

We just don't play UNC regularly cause they are scared bitches.

also, East Coast Band, here is your answer on why we left the ACC from the other thread.

Um Mizzou vs Arkansas basketball is the hottest ticket in the SEC and both teams aren't all that good. Wait until they both get good. Prices will double that.

Mizzou vs Kentucky are over the $100 range. And this is basketball. Those tickets are higher than some of the football games.

I can remember LSU vs Arkansas football tickets going for $25 on stubhub.

Lowest priced Mizzou at Arkansas is $175

Our only rival is Clemson.

Georgia ... meh. Plus I hear Aaron Murray is gay and that between Gurshall and he they have a nasty little menage e' trois cruisin' kind of thing goin' on in the shower every day that would make Jerry Sandusky throw-up in his mouth.

Oh, wait, errr, you were asking about SC/UF.

No, UF is not a rival per se, although it has an interesting dynamic with the Spurrier connection and a friendly feel to it, for the most part, between the fans. We've now had what, five ballgames out of the last seven or eight or so, that have determined the Eastern Division champ and/or in one instance whether or not y'all won another MNC.

We want to beat Florida every year, but we do not hate Florida like we do say Georgia (who we have played almost 70 times) and Tennessee, (who has a nefarious history of cheating down here under Fulmer). So we want to beat Florida every year but we really hate Georgia (who doesn't I ask), and despise Tennessee.

Still, our only real rival is Clemson. It's the second longest continuous series in the country, the longest continuous series in the South, or deep South, or something like that, and it is vicious and hateful like a true rivalry should be because it is instate and there are a lot of mixed families, "houses divided" as we refer to them here.

Damn Jim Morrison, in all my years that is the first time I have seen one of my actual entries/edits/contribs from the wiki page quoted on a BBS somewhere.

Made my day. Thanks. :)
