Best Winning Percentage against teams that FINISHED in the AP Top 25 (record at current school):
65.1%- Saban (28-15)
55.8%- Miles (29-23)
40.9%- Freeze (9-13)
35.7%- Malzahn (5-9)
33.3%- McElwain (2-4)
27.8%- Sumlin (5-13)
26.7%- Bielema (4-11)
14.3%- Jones (2-12)
6.50%- Mullen (2-29)
0.00%- Mason (0-9)
0.00%- Stoops (0-16)
Did not include Kirby, Muschamp, or Odom obviously because they have not coached a game yet.
Interesting that Miles (55.8%) and Malzahn (35.7%) are feeling the most heat of the SEC West coaches.... yet you've got a guy like Dan Mullen who is considered completely safe despite his 2-29 record against teams that finished in the Top 25. Both of his two such wins came against teams that finished ranked somewhere between #20 and #25.

Why is that interesting? Auburn and LSU expect championships. MSU doesn't. Mullen has the best job in the SEC. $4 million a year with not much expectations.

It generally follows the same order, except that McElwain jumps up to #1 due to not playing many Top 10 opponents:
50.0%- McElwain (1-1)
42.9%- Saban (9-12)
38.5%- Miles (10-16)
28.6%- Malzahn (2-5)
22.2%- Freeze (2-7)
14.3%- Bielema (1-6)
12.5%- Sumlin (1-7)
11.1%- Jones (1-8)
0.0%- Mason (0-3)
0.0%- Stoops (0-7)
0.0%- Mullen (0-18) (!)

2/31 is not 0.65%. It's obviously around 7%
ETA: you probably meant 6.5%

It was pretty impressive against Top 25 teams.... was far less impressive against the Top 10.
Against Final Top 25 teams, Richt's record was 27-38 (41.5%)... that would be good enough for 3rd place behind only Saban and Miles.
Against Final Top 10 teams, Richt's record was 5-20 (20.0%)... which would put him behind McElwain, Saban, Miles, Malzahn, and Freeze.

Would the fans of the perspective teams like to add their input on the following coaches as well on this topic:
Steve Spurrier
Urban Meyer
Bobby Petrino
Houston Nutt
Gary Pinkel

So...when Tennessee beat South Carolina in 2013 (which finished #4 in the AP)....why does that count as a loss?

What was Boom's record at UF, though?

I'm not advocating for him to get canned, but
Kinda sucks, especially in light of

LOL @ Butch
Yeah man, I can't imagine why a program that was a nuclear wasteland at the time of his arrival complete with a roster composed of starving survivors of the Black Plague didn't win a bunch of big games.
It's like he inherited a program in a 10 year nosedive or something.

Jones at 1-7 was listed correctly. My bad, I wrote "Jones" again in place of "Mason" who is the one that is 0-3.

To be fair, and I'm not defending Malzahn as a good coach because he has some gaping weaknesses, the smaller the sample size, the less reliable. Just eyeballing the schedule, it looks like Saban was 0-4 in 2007 (since apparently we're not including stats from previous stints.)

I just think it will be viewed especially problematic for AU fans, who grew accustomed to fighting above their weight.
