Was our schedule that terrible that at 16-4 we are a 9 seed?

A lot of the seeding is just the reputation of the SEC currently. CBS has South Carolina and Florida as 7 seeds, which is too low IMO.
No, Arkansas schedule is fine. Currently the issue is lack of top 50 RPI teams faced in league play. Arkansas lost to Florida and Kentucky but beat Tennessee on the road. Arkansas still has @ Scar, @ Florida, Georgia, Ok State as good wins that are out there.
Arkansas has good wins, but they're just outside the top 50 RPI. UT-Arlington(52), Houston(76), Vandy(58), North Dakota State(81), etc.
Arkansas has one bad loss to Mississippi State
Arkansas has a SOS of 57, which isn't terrible.

SEC should go 4-1 in the Big12 challenge this weekend. That might help the SEC perception a bit.

I like the game slate. I think South Carolina against KState would have been intriguing. As would Texas/Tennessee.

Tennessee isn't making the tournament w <20 wins due to being in the SEC. That would require them to nearly do a clean sweep of the SEC slate

SCAR deserves a better seed than a 7. They will be a tough out come March with their tenacious D and two man punch of Thornwell and Dozier.

They've improved all season long and are a very good team.
I posted their remaining schedule the other day and they only have 2 games remaining against the top 4 teams in the league. If they finish 19-11(12-6) in the league, they will be in IMO. They have currently, the 4th toughest schedule in the nation according to RPI.
If they beat Kansas State at home this weekend....they're actually in a pretty good position heading into the last part of their schedule.

What is the usual RPI range to get an NIT invite?

What? You're aware there are 10 games right?

In general
Most of you would be right about teams like Tennessee, etc but this year there is going to be some considerable garbage in the tournament. How Michigan state is safely in right now is beyond my comprehension
Northwestern is about a lock. That should tell you something

Yes, I was referring to the 5 games he listed.

but this year there is going to be some considerable garbage in the tournament.
Vandy got in last year with a bad record in a statistically similar (maybe worse) SEC. 19-11 Tennessee would have more than a shot.
On another note, I think it's crazy that a 16-4 Arkansas team is close to the bubble, but no team in the SEC is going to get significant respect without beating Kentucky. Sucks, but that's the way it is.

If Tennessee continues to play like they have, their RPI will be in the top 30. They beat Kansas State Saturday and split their 2 games with Scar and Florida and don't lose to someone they shouldn't, they'll be in as a 10 seed.

Its why this weekend is important for the league. Perception alone gives teams in the league a hit. Arkansas is 16-4 with one "bad" loss to Miss State. Arkansas doesn't have any "remarkable" wins, but has a schedule full of solid wins this season.

It'll be interesting to see if the Carlton Bragg/sexual assault stuff will be a big distraction for Kansas going into this weekend.

We don't play Tennessee again, although they do get another shot at South Carolina.

thing is... it is @ South Carolina.

That's right. They have only have UK and SCar left out of the top 4 league teams.
