SEC baseball coaches with warm seats

The hottest has to be Dave Serrano's. The Vols best SEC finish to date has been 12-18 in his 4 seasons there.
Mitch Gaspard has hovered around .500 in league play his entire career at Alabama (besides an atrocious 2012 year where they went 9-21) but he has made 4 NCAA appearances including a super regional over his first 5 years though this year they'll likely be on the outside looking in.
A curious case is John Cohen who is under .500 for his career at State but did coach them to a runner up finish in Omaha 2 seasons ago. That said, this will be the third season out of his 7 in Starkville he's missed the tournament all together.
Finally, there's Chad Holbrook who has South Carolina in #thedecline. Before he became coach, Tanner had one back to back titles and was runner up. Holbrook has the Gamecocks fighting for their NCAA lives now after going to supers his first season and getting bounced in the regionals his second. I'll chalk this up to Smoke Laval syndrome as he's the assistant of a legend that was hand picked to succeed him and just isn't getting it done.

Serrano gets next year and it's going to take a miracle for them to get a NCAA regional bid. A regional bid is the only thing IMO that can save his job after next season. I personally think he should get next year and then 1 more year since it's baseball and all.

Mizzou's is in the last year of his contract and the new AD doesn't plan on renewing it so his seat is hottest. He gone.

I don't won't gaspard to coach a single game in the new place

Holbrook's gonna be back next year regardless of what happens here down the stretch.

Many UT fans will want Serrano gone next year when there's no improvement but the harsh reality is any replacement will likely be a step down from Serrano in terms of resume and recruiting ability. Amazingly, his 4 year SEC record is worse than Raleigh's.

"Hot seat" is putting it mildly.
I had to go to my Internist yesterday to discuss the results of some tests and the waiting room was full of older guys like me, a ton of Gamecock fans.
When one guy started a conversation about Gamecock baseball and #tDecline - everyone erupted. Everyone wants him gone. Everyone agree on the same observations. Everyone had a personal story to share.
Even the refs and umps are saying this is not the usual Gamecock baseball team ... they are lackadaisical and undisciplined.
Everyone is noting how the dugout is lethargic.
Everyone is noting how we are not aggressive, that we run the bases poorly and we have far far too many errors, of every sort, this season.
Everyone wanted him gone - everyone agreed on Monte Lee.
ETA: I should also note that Holbrook will be back for another season regardless what fans think.

pretty sure his contract runs out next year. he won't get an extension unless he pulls a complete 180 next year. and if UT was willing to pay a buyout for a non-revenue sport, he'd be gone this year. There is absolutely no excuse to be this bad in year 3.

Gaspard is fine. Our AD is not allowed to pay attention to baseball. If we catch him wasting time assessing the performance of the baseball team, we'll find someone who takes his priorities seriously.

TJ at Mizzou is on about as hot of a seat as there is. If they don't find a way to make the tournament, it is all but guaranteed that he's gone. This is the last year of his contract, outside of the Scherzer/Crowe era, he's done a poor job making the tournament (granted that was a 7 or 8 year stretch of good ball), he has a horrendous record when it comes to midweek games, his game management is questionable at best. In fact, I question if he is retained even if they limp into the tourney but go no where in it.
Most Mizzou fans believe/hope that the next HC in waiting is former Tiger Tony Vitello, currently an assistant at Arky who also spent time coaching at Mizzou and TCU.

Sonny Golloway might be depending on how he finishes the season. He is a douchebag that a lot people don't like on a personal level. That won't help him if the season finishes badly

There's a strong feeling among our fanbase that we want Sunny Golloway gone. There have been nothing but bad things said about his character as a person and he sounds like a complete a-hole. Apparently this past week against Bama he cursed and chewed out their coaches for something minor about them asking to unlock a batting cage or other facility. He doesn't sound like the kind of guy you'd want to play for, and we had an average year.

Add to the fact that Mizzou has a relatively new chancellor Loftin and a new AD Rhoades who are both big in giving baseball what it needs to succeed. They've already spoken about new facilities and I suspect it also means new coaches if need be. Rhoades was known to not be afraid to make changes while at Houston.

This is Serrano's 4th year at Tennessee

His son will be a junior next season and is literally pitching to save his father's job.
I don't know why Serrano has failed. I think he's been married to his system too much and his hitting coach, is his childhood best friend, Greg Bergeron. He's not a very good coach and it's showing in the SEC. His system just isn't working but now you have players that were recruited to fit that system. Also, there have been a few departures that could be on this team right now that would make it instantly better that left for whatever reason.

Golloway being an insufferable prick on top of an average year is gonna have him on the warm/hot seat.

You keep your Tiger paws off of Vitello.

He got a 5 year deal to begin with. It expires after next year. I'd like to see him get a 6th year somehow but I don't think you can get either side to commit to an extension beyond that without a buyout.

Have seen and heard enough when it comes to Golloway. As an employee, he has failed as a coach and as a representative of the University. He should be gone by seasons end.
