Florida, LSU, Texas A&M, Arkansas and Alabama do not require public funding for their athletic programs. What is the dynamic of your program? Are there others that do not require funding?
ETA: added LSU and Texas A&M
2nd ETA: I'll add Arkansas because of Wal-Mart money and Jerry Jones. The rest haven't proven they are supported 100% by private funds yet.

I'm pretty sure most SEC programs pay for themselves

You can add LSU to that list.

you don't have much knowledge then. LSU doesn't take public money, in fact LSU athletics makes huge donations back to the academic side.

Latest data I could find A&M took a $9,586 subsidy

Many of the schools who claim to have profitable athletic departments gloss over the fact that significant state resources are given to the AD annually.
To my knowledge, only Florida and Alabama do not require public funding for their athletic programs. What is the dynamic of your program? Are there others that do not require funding?

Your knowledge needs public funding

This is more of just an inquiry than anything else.

That's pretty misleading. I doubt any SEC program "requires" public money to survive. They could all get by without it, if they chose to, imho.

Texas A&M athletics are self-supporting.

Local Funds are collected locally by the university. There are three types of local funds: designated, auxiliary, and restricted ....
Auxiliary funds come from business enterprises that provide services to students, faculty, staff, and the general public. These enterprises must be self-supporting. Auxiliary units can have both internal and external customers. Examples include: Athletics, Dining Services, Recreational Sports, Residence Halls, and Transportation Services. These units generate their own income to cover expenses.

Yep, LSU athletics has been run on private funding only for years and years.

Arkansas doesn't charge an "athletics fee" to their students either.
