Schools rushing the field was a $5,000 fine in 2014.

It has been SLIGHTLY increased to a mere $50,000 per incident in 2015. All since last year.

I don't mind the rule, but how can these numbers make sense? Why not $10,000 or, at most, $12,000.

Rushing the field for something like what Auburn did against UGA and Bama in 2013 is inevitable. If you were there, you would have rushed the field too.

And, it will happen again given the competitiveness of this league.

But raising a $5,000 fine to $50,000...for a FIRST TIME OFFENSE, just because of the "ideas" thrown out at a yearly meeting by some already VERY rich commissioners, is a ludicrous penalty in my opinion.

I assume it's a safety thing thus the need to clamp down on it happening so the higher penalty.

That's exactly it. In certain cases, it is inevitable it'll happen, and in those cases, the schools couldn't give less of a shite about it.

If the field rushing fine was $100K, do you think AU would have been pissed that they rushed after the kick 6?

50k is pocket change. How much do you think the schools make on huge games where this could be a possibility?

Pretty sure this isn't some scheme for them to line their pockets...

the only time we've rushed the field (well, our own field I should say) we gave zero fricks about that. Check out the game clock

which is too bad. It is fun. Obviously the potential for disaster is quite high. But what's the term you guys like to throw out a lot when sports modify their rules for safety, "pussification?"

5,000 was too small to keep people from doing it.

50,000 will probably be too small of a penalty to keep people from doing it. So honestly it should be higher if you really want to keep people from rushing the field

Even with the delay it would still have potential to cause injuries or worse so I say you aubs do it every game.

It could be $500K, "people", ie the fans in the stands, couldn't care less what the fine is. It's not coming out of their pockets. All a higher fine will do is make the school put extra enforcement/security along the sides to prevent it, but the fans in the stands couldn't give less of a shite what the fine is.

I understand that but, kids are going to rush the field no matter what. You cant stop them in big games like that. They are paying those athletic fees as part of their tuition every single year.

I know. To keep people from doing it was referencing the school taking extra security measures to keep people off the field

what happens if there is a 1986 Aub vs. UGA thing happening. Would we get fined?

well fans would have rushed the field sooo...yes.

Man talk about an all time way to frick over a rival, it's bad enough you beat them, and even worse you rush their field, then the capper is they have to pay the SEC thousands of dollars for punishment

Or you could get security that actually wants to do their job. In the end zone opposite the student section at Auburn, those guards didn't even try to stop anyone.

Life of the party here guys. Either that or is a poor that couldn't get to field level.
