Did anyone else catch the broadcasters comment that Sark was initially brought on as a offensive consultant to help specifically with 3rd down conversion efficiency.

Bama was 2-15 on 3rd down last night with him at the helm. Can't be a good look for him.

Our QB couldn't consistently make a wide open 7 yard throw. We had 4-5 3rd down plays in which the receiver was open and missed, Jalen missed the throw or the WR dropped the throw.

Thought Sark was fine, we just didn't execute well and Jalens year end slump/freshman wall continued.

The problem was more on the early downs. They were in such horrible positions on 3rd and long for a majority of the night.

All trolling aside. I had a feeling it would be Jalen that cost you guys in this game. Both teams had great defenses, and Jalen got away with a lot of big mistakes throughout the year...

Yep, a couple of Cam false starts, Jalen throwing dirt divers to open Calvin, etc.

Clemson dared Jalen to beat them and he couldn't do it consistently.

I'm willing to give Sark a shot with the group of young guys. I'm eager to see what he can do to develop our QBs, Kiffin was pretty good in that department.

Kiffin was 4-14 on 3rd down vs Washington and 0-1 on 4th down.

Yep. I love the kid, and he even made huge plays to win the game late, but the stretch on 3 and outs helped gas the defense and set up the late onslaught by Clemson.

He's a freshman. There's a reason those guys don't win titles.

Shall we go ahead and coin the term "3rd and Sark" to use every time Alabama fails to convert a 3rd down next year?

This sounds so familiar but when we say it we're being a melty, whiny bitch.

what about this?
quote:

Alabama ran a designed rush on 48 percent of their plays before Bo Scarbrough’s injury compared to 22 percent after the injury
quote:

After Bo Scarbrough went down with an injury at the 2:19 mark in the 3rd quarter, Alabama ran four designed rushes. Four.

seems to be the same thing ppl bitched about with kiffen, not running the ball (even with healthy bo, bama called more passes than runs)

Sark will be fine, he was brought into a tough situation. You guys will be hating him by this time next year when Bamas offense explodes next year. Sark is a great offensive mind.

Except the biggest difference was we were gashing Washington. We were not gashing Clemson. Bo had a couple solid runs, but outside of those they were crowding and stuffing even our best runs out for 3-5 yards.

We had to make them respect other things. Sark called easy throws that were open. The only downside was perhaps not running the clock, but we had to score.

Our options, with Jalen throwing and seeing the field that he was, were pretty limited.

I don't remember people saying LSU fans were whining when they said their QB play was bad. Pretty sure everyone agreed with it.

there was only one drive out of four where you "had" to score in those final 17 minutes where alabama ran their RB for 24 yards on four total rushing plays called

harris' first carry went for 13 yards on 1st down and then sark called three straight pass plays when you were up 24-21

Disagree. We couldn't just run clock and hug a 3 pt lead. We had to keep scoring to keep distance. We knew that.

I did wish we had given Jacobs and Harris a few more shots, but they were overloading things and outside of a few missed tackles or perfectly blocked plays we weren't gaining yards.

Again, I had no problems with how he called the game. Then again, I had no problems with Kiffin (loved jim, actually), until the last 2 games.

running the clock would have netted you the W

running the ball only four times for 17+ minutes of the game is the reason why clemson had 2 minutes left to tie/win

four runs, 13, 3, 3, & 5 yards. 6 ypc average. gaining 3-5 yards on a run play isn't something that is going to kill your offense. putting the game on the shoulders of a freshman who has been inconsistent throwing the ball all year is something that can kill your offense. not to mention, both of your RBs have big play potential and they didn't even get the chance to show it.

Then their previous go ahead TD drive would have been at the end instead of 7 minutes left......the point was Clemson still had a TD drive in them and 3 pts probably wasn't going to be enough. It wasn't.

I don't agree. Like I said above, Clemson still would have taken the lead, there just wouldn't have been an extra back and forth.

We didn't execute, but I had no qualms with how we did it. Clearly you do, so you should be pretty happy that our OC stinks going forward.

I said the same thing. If we run at least that eats up a hell of a lot more clock which would have kept the defense fresher.

It certainly wasn't perfect, and my only viewing was inside the stadium so I could be way off. I just didn't feel like the issue was playcalling as much as being unable to throw easy outs and stop routes. And Clemson crowded things accordingly.

Perhaps we should have run more straight ahead stuff and eaten some more clock, but I'm not sure we wouldn't have just lost 27-24.

Either way, it's hard to win with a QB who can't make easy throws, and that's where Jalen was last night.
