Typical Gump, makes everything about Bama.

It's all about not beating Bama and you know it.

Les deserved a hell of a lot better when it was time.

If you're going to fire him have the nuts to fire him. Don't string the man along and neuter him with constant leaks for weeks. That's such amateur, bush league, pussy shite.

Joe Alleva's running a real Mickey Mouse operation over in Baton Rouge and I hope it bites him and his short sighted fans in the arse. I can't wait for the witch hunt to turn to him when the next coach gets fired or moves on in 3 years.

Les Miles is cut from a different cloth than the rest of the slime ball used car salesmen who are in charge of most college football programs. He wouldn't be my first choice coach, but he'd be top 5 for sure.

No. But it does allude to the fact that he has labored in the long shadow of Nick Saban and the constant comparisons were a reality and an impossible standard to live up to. A journalist even asked him a direct question about it, so it was/is well known that has been the standard he has been measured against.

Why is it important for y'all to continue to deny what has been common knowledge for years?

Shula had a 53% win percentage at UA. What is Miles win percentage at LSU?

So much sanctimony and self-righteousness on this board. Why do fans of other teams care?

Of the worst 3 seasons of the last one hundred years of Bama football, Shula coached 2. In four years total, he never won anything of significance.

Les Miles is LSU's greatest coach of all time, He has coached the greatest 10-year stretch in LSU history and has an undefeated season and has won conference and national titles.

So slight difference

Shula was 26-23 when he was fired. Les Miles is, at present, 110-32 since taking over LSU in 2005.

After going 6-6 in the regular season.

If Saban were to retire tomorrow, list in order from current SEC coaches who you'd choose. Les Miles wouldn't be in your top 3.

Among current SEC coaches? Yeah, he'd be in my top three. No worse than fourth. I'd say Les, Bert, and Merlins would be my choices.

He does not have an undefeated season. If he did, he would have a 2nd national championship.

Les has been a great coach, man, and ambassador for LSU and the SEC, but college football nowadays is big business. If you don't produce, you get replaced. LSU has had one of the highest, if not the highest paid coaching staff in the country for the past few years, and the product on the field is depressing. They are among the league leaders in penalties in the SEC, cannot develop a QB or a passing game, have not been to a major bowl game since 1/09/12, 1-3 in last 4 bowl games, 2-7 vs Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Bama the last 3 years, and are on the verge of being 500 in SEC play for the 2nd straight year. To top it all off, Les flirted with Michigan twice and Arkansas once to get himself the big money. He got the big money but has not produced the big results on the field since the 2011 season.

Sure, the LSU athletic Department has handled this situation in the worst way possible, and Les definitely deserved much more respect than has been shown, but it was time for a change.

If it doesn't work out, so be it, but LSU was not going to be anything better than they are now going forward with Les as the head coach.

And yet I ask another ignorant Gump.......if Miles has one loss this year and takes his team to the Sugar Bowl is he on the hot seat? No, the losses to Bama play a role but this is more about 13-11. If you can't see that you're simply delusional.

Shula also took the reins under very difficult circumstances. Probation and a quick hire following the Mike Price debacle. Face it...he was canned because he went 0 - 4 against Auburn...during a period when none of your coaches were beating Auburn. Hell, even though Saban's won 5 of the last 7 against Auburn, those 2 loses have been in spectacular "shite the bed" fashion.

I don't disagree with this...yet all we heard from the Gumps until recently was "Les only won with Nick's players. Watch what happens when they leave." When the Tigers slipped to 8 - 5 in 2008, Gump nation was claiming that LSU was dead and buried and that Miles was a farce.

So, please feel free to continue demonstrating your lack of knowledge concerning LSU coaches. It makes for entertaining reading.

This whole deal is like a soap opera

It's evolving from Soap Opera to Pagliacci at the Met. (We realize that 95% of this board probably has no idea what that means)

The rest of the SEC certainly doesn't want any change at LSU or anybody coming in that can maximize the potential of the talent on Offense.......................

Worst justification I have yet seen for giving Les the pink slip.
