According to an advance copy of the book obtained by AL.com, Longhorn boosters were willing to offer Saban a signing bonus worth up to $15 million and a $100 million-plus salary package.

"Texas was dead serious about trying to money-whip Saban," Finebaum and Wojchiechowski write. "Depending on whom you talk to -- Bama big hitters or Texas big hitters -- the Longhorns were prepared to give Saban somewhere between a $12 and $15 million signing bonus and a salary package worth $100 million (plus performances)."

Instead, he'll profit on this book. Given the target audience, I'm guessing the youth and audiobook versions will sell really well.

I still maintain the belief that Saban and Texas had come to an agreement, but he got pissed off then backed out once it started to leak.

If Texas sources have been able to keep their mouths shut until after the Sugar Bowl, he is at Texas right now

I think he realized he was too old to start over at Texas, which requires serious work and is losing ground to A&M. The guy is too established and old to drop what he has in Bama.

He's no spring chicken, and Mack Brown had Texas in a hole.

Good decision by not biting IMHO. Nobody gives a frick about Texas anymore.

I am beginning to question his decision making skills.
