1999 was the first time we played UT in Tuscaloosa since 1930.

We expanded BDS in the late 90s (I think 1998). We started playing games the big games in Tuscaloosa while sending some token games to Birmingham until the remainder of the contract with Legion Field ran out. That's why we played Vandy in Birmingham in 2000.

Save it.

I was referring to this troll:
quote:

Birmingham is where we played our biggest games against our biggest competition. Funnily enough, we almost always played LSU in Tuscaloosa.

LSU and Alabama played in Birmingham more often than Tuscaloosa thorough the 80s.

I'm not saying LSU was Alabama' rival, they didn't even play every year until the 60s. It's just Alabama fans trying too hard. Which is surprising considering the history of their program. You would think that would speak for itself.

Unfortunately not.

From 1909 to 1986 Alabama played LSU in Birmingham 14 times, Mobile 3 times, Montgomery once, and Tuscaloosa 5 times.

BDS held 60k until we expanded in 1987 to 70k. Then we continued playing Auburn and Tennessee in Birmingham until 1998 when BDS was expanded to 84k.

I'm sure this is a huge game for all the sand mountain meth addicts to get one over on their UT hillbilly buddies across the state line but you never heard a peep about UT being a big rival in the southern half of the state until "fat pheeeel gawt us put awn probayshun" back around the halcyon Dubose/Fran/Price/Shula days.

I'm from around Montgomery and it was always huge as long as I've been alive (since 87).

...out of 49 games, 7 were in Tuscaloosa, 21 were in Baton Rouge, and 21 were at neutral sites including 14 in Birmingham. 4 games were played in Mobile, including "Paul Bryant's first game as Alabama's head coach, when the Crimson Tide fell 13–3 to LSU." LINK

That must be why Alabama-LSU was always in Birmingham, Mobile or Montgomery.

Can Vandy or Kentucky say this?

SEC championships:
Mississippi(6) + State(1) + Tulane(3) = 10
Vandy(0) + Kentucky(2) = 2

And at least Mississippi can say they have an winning record vs Florida, can Tennessee?

Dude OM has been a doormat program except under Vaught and recently, MS state has always been a doormat, Tulanes championships came way back. For a guy that loves to talk about how we haven't been good since 1970, you sure are using those prior years to bump up your opponnents

I mean shite UK had bear Bryant and they still couldn't beat us

Dude, Mississippi is #4 on Tennessee's all-time played list, don't dog them too bad.

Tulane's championships came way back? What about Vandy's?

Funny thing about State, they are the most played opponent for:
Alabama
LSU
Ole Miss

...and second most played for Auburn only behind TSOR.

I never tried to hype up Vandy as good in the slightest

Yeah, so you cant talk shite about our long series of games with UK and Vandy because you have the equivalent

VAndy (good in the 20s) = OM Good in the 60s
State = UK
Tulane = ???

I mean hell we had a little rivalry with Tech for a while (47 meetings) do we not get any credit for that?

I already posted a link for the 20 year period from 1950 to 1970, Mississippi had the best win % of all college football teams. 20 years, not 10. BEST. Of ALL. That's pretty significant.

Tulane was ranked 13th from 1925-1945. Vandy was never better than 17th for any 20 year period, and that was 1912-1931.

Actually CFB ranks LSU's schedule tougher than UT's all-time:
