Former LSU football coach Paul Dietzel is in poor physical health, according to an email released by the family on Sunday. Dietzel, 89, guided LSU to its first national championship in 1958.
On Thursday, Dietzel turned 89 and was taken to the hospital, according to some of his former players. He has returned home and is sound mentally, his son, Steve, wrote in the email.

I'm glad I got to meet the man even if it was just long enough to sign his book "Call Me Coach" for me.
